40k salary for a job you like or 100k for a job you don't like?

Most things in life are "easier said than done".

What's your point?

I've already done it by the way.....

I wasn't challenging you personally, I just meant that a lot of 40k jobs I imagine there isn't much opportunity to go up to 100k

This is all hypothetical

But I can't see why there wouldn't be muck opportunity to go up to 100k.

To take it even further, I started for FAR less than 40k. In the mailroom.

And I am a long way from that.

40k? You guys must live in the south. For 100k you are just out of government subsidized housing in NYC if you want to live in a good area.

in America, u live great with benefits at 40k.

This is an interesting statement and definitely depends on where you live. But I know some people that make about that much and get government assistance for things like rent. In the Bay, rent is at least a $1000 for a studio or one bedroom. This girl has a 2 bedroom and only pays $400. I make well over her but by the end of it and cause my rent is more, we probably pocket the same. It's to the point where she doesn't even want to make more money cause she won't qualify for assistance if she does. Got to love benefiting off the system when it works.

Take the 100k job and retire early so i can do things i love enjoy

The 100K job just means you will retire on time. Doubt you can retire earlier.

no one.retirea.in.america,..people work till they are disabled and have fractured bones or arthritis

Hope people aren't in their 20's talking about retiring

By the time we're 65 (if that's even the age to retire at that time) there will be NO such thing as retiring. Sad

Unless you're still doing something mailroom related for the 100k, you're off base for the hypothetical. You won't be "great" anywhere with 40k, you'll be comfy but let's not delude ourselves. Take the 100k, use the added financial freedom to do what you like in your spare time. Probably easier to make more from the 100k. Paying that much signifies some need and value of services.

Ask LARRY SANDERS. ask ANDREW BYNUM.  Those guys are fools.  Can't even fake it to earn a guarantee salary.  Mind is blown.

People always talk about living comfortably. I make somewhat good money. But feel like sometimes I want more. And that's 70k range. Idk how people say 40k is good.

^^^^^^If you live in the midwest, 40K is good. My colleague works in Kansas City and owns a huge house and everything and only off $50k salary.

A lot of my family been in the hospital lately. These nurses make what, 60k-80k a year. I think most of em do it for the money. Cause this one nurse didn't want to do **** for my dad every time I called the nurse to the room. She doesnt even comb her hair and its said how u suppose to take care of patients and don't even take care of yourself.and in ICU the nurses where loud like there was people in there trying to get better... Smh most of them do it for the money. I'm an engineer and I love my job. I put effort into it because u want the higher ups to know your determined and want that raise!!

Haha. I am only laughing cause this has been the case for a while with nurses. There are so many damn male nurses now because they just want to do it for the money. Not hating because honestly I am sort of envious now but my boy that is a doctor says that nurses are just the guys/girls that can't cut med school to become doctors. The medical industry oddly has a lot of politics where hierarchy is key. Like a brain surgeon will look at a pediatrician as low level. From my understanding though, the easiest job in that industry that holds no responsibility and you still gets paid is the being an x-ray tech. All you do is just scan people all day.

I know nurses who make bank, never get to go home at normal times, live alone, and hate their lives.

Pass on that

I think you misunderstood what I said.

When you chose 40k for a job you like, it doesn't mean you STAY at 40k forever.

I might even argue that the potential for advancement doing something you love outweighs the potential for you to advance doing a job you don't like.

And can you even be "off base" for a "hypothetical"?

Fun fact, lower back pain and neck pain can occur with doctors unable to see the reason why and sometimes are untreatable :nerd:
