Like the title says.

I got a family of 5. Paying 1500 for a 2 - 3 bedroom ain't built for me...

I rather start over in a new city. Give me some insights on what Houston has to offer.

jprince told me, you can't eat on them h-town streets until NYC gives reparations for drake being slapped up by diddy. since you're a small time NYC cat, he said you can just kiss his ring and you'll be good, but until advised other wise, that's the way it is right now.

Why Houston? Have you ever been?

One of my boys made that move and now be thinks Houston is the greatest place on earth, he never stops taking about it

I heard Austin was the silicon valley of the south. Not sure about Houston though. I know Dallas has a lot of corporations. Why Houston?

Well, Houston has strong fields in both IT and law. So I'd imagine as a family unit, that would work well for he and his lady. But I've got to tell you, as a migrant myself, that Houston heat ain't nothin to f' wit. Be prepared.

From an IT perspective, there are a ton of data centers located in Houston.

I think they're going to start getting moved a little farther north on Texas because from a climate perspective, its better to have it in a cooler dryer climate (lower energy costs for the data center buildings)

I think you should do some research into energy IT, as energy is the main driver in the H.

As far aa a landing area, some good 'burbs include Pearland, clear lake (baybrook area), north shore, Katy, woodlands (kinda pricey but still cheaper than NY).

Pasadena is a heavy Latino community, and pretty chill in some parts

Also, conroe is cool... Its about 40 min outside of Houston.

Sugar land used to be really hot. I think they've lost some luster because some other areas just got developed... But they have some good schools out there and pretty diverse.

Houston has a ton of corps, too... The location from a port perspective called for many places to have a base...

I can say that Houston's Katy's metro + galleria area + downtown > Dallas uptown/downtown/galleria area

UofH law and TSU law have a lot of folks running around downtown.

Energy needs a ton of lawyers due to so many licensing issues involved with it.

The heat ain't no bish... But the nights are dope...

Plus spring and fall are the best times of the year.

you want the truth about NYC to Houston.....you come talk to me

lifetime new yorker...moved here a year ago....my life did a complete 180

dm me...ill shoot you my number we can chop it up...tell you the whole story

If your moving to Houston, energy is going to be your biggest go to.
Wife works for BP as an accountant but they are always looking for IT Guys.
I live in SugarLand myself and they are building like crazy, the same for Katy(which I work in) but that city sucks ***.
Point.Blank.Period.
It's always something going on, Discovery Green, downtown, etc..
But the only bad thing about Houston is that EVERYTHING is spread out. Not like NY and that will take time to get used to.
Austin, San Antonio, Dallas are all three hours apart. Google headquarters are in Austin, thinking about moving there so my wife can be closer to family.
What are you specifically looking for op?

Not serious  .
But all jokes aside, make that move. I have cats that moved down south and they are EATING...And you'll get mad love just off the strength that you're from NY.
The value of the dollar is more down there. As long as you have those certifications, you'll flourish.

been debating the move myself know some people in IT working for Xerox in Houston.  I am thinking more Dallas myself because lots of companies moving there plus properties are cheaper than say Austin which is the spot to be in if your young.  I m in NY to and have a condo but dont want to invest in a crib because taxes are crazy and getting worse.  This is why people are saying the middle class is getting killed.  I got a young family and kids are getting big so i got to make a move sooner than later but I rather invest in Texas right now than a house in NY.

What's crazy is I'm thinking about making the move to NY for a couple years.

Might just do SF/LA and skip the trash can fires and paid in full on ice

I went to John Jay too.
What's your wife's name, b?
John Jay got 1000s of females you think u might know her? From my analysis dudes on NT just watch girls from the sideline while taking snapshots of their jay/jogger combo...

Thanks for all the feedback yall... really taking this into consideration. Tired of paying a fortune for a 125 year old apt.
