Air Jordan 7 "Nostalgia"

For the twelve people who actually wanted these, congratulations on the easy cop.

Somewhat seriously, there have been a number of releases that have not sold out on release day or shortly thereafter. They haven't just been VIIs, but the low XIs, and IXs. I think JB has reached the point where they're saturating the market.

There was a recent APICs conference in Vegas. Nike execs on supply chain had a standing room only session. Two interesting items they discussed. 1) There is some type of correlation between high amounts of tweets and Nike stock prices dropping and 2) they talked about the early day 'mistake' where the accountants and marketing had a dispute about the number of Jordan's to produce/release. Finance wanted to produce as much as would be consumed, marketing wanted to have demand outpace supply by 2 to 1. Marketing won out, and maybe now the accountants are pushing for more volume.

Nice info. What else did the Nike guys discuss?

They could just you know, put out the ones people actually want in a large quantity instead of these meh ones with a $200 price tag

Biggest problem. They're putting out retro+'s with a manufactured story behind them as a gimmick to attract the consumer. A lot of these kids know nothing about Michael Jordan. And they're learning it takes more than just a jumpman.

Appearance matters first.

Interesting take on the finance vs marketing concept of JB retros.. That would explain why the $190+ price tag was put in place. IMO they should simply slow down releases-there were WAYYY too many 7s released this year and even 2 releases that looked too similar (Barcelona Nights & MTM). It could also signify that JB is slightly losing popularity.

The problem is, when you're putting out too many releases, you're not going to have good cws for every release. If they had fewer releases, they could focus on putting out better cws. Look at SBB 1s, for example, that showed they can put out a good cw AND have a storyline with it if they put the effort into it.

Originally Yes. I checked yesterday, they aren't now.

$150 is still too much for me, I'd bite at $100

The MTM 7s went down to $133 and they were more in demand than these were. I can totally see these hitting that OG $125 price haha

Just imagine yourself years in the future. You're minding your own, going somewhere you got to be.. you've forgotten the sweater 7s even exist. Your taste or distaste for them is hardly the matter, they cross your mind so seldom that when they do, that in itself is the highlight. Then one day out of the corner of your eye you see them randomly on somebody whose pulled them off quite nicely. You do a double take. "Dope" you think. You immediately identify the silhouette as Jordan VIIs, but the colorway makes you squint; are those the sweater 7s? Oh yea, they are the sweater 7s. Nice.

A lot of heads think these are ugly and hideous like some other retros that are still sitting on shelves, but could their widespread availability be what's limiting their aesthetic appeal? So they don't seem that special when there are multiple size runs available at multiple spots, but what if only one size run was available in the whole state? Would they seem special then? These are the questions I ask myself when I see some of the more questionable color choices used by Jordan Brand on recent retros. I used to do this a lot, but now I hate writing off colorways simply because they're not OG or considered classic. New classics are born everyday. JB really be cooking up some crack sometimes and you have to consider the shoe, the whole shoe in it's entirety, outside of the current, collective, influences of thought. I think this shoe is one of those cases. They're double take worthy, it'll just take some time.

Yup yup! Your taste changes the older you get if not then you better check yourself a little deeper. LOL!
Same can be said for a lot of the OG colors as well. Military Blue 4's weren't a hit… Garpe 5's sat… Maroon 6's sat…. Playoff 7's (Raptors to you young kids) sat… Aqua 8's sat… but you get my drift? Some, not all of the new retro colors WILL make a comeback just you wait and see.

Let's not kid ourselves and call these "future classics" they have been nicknamed the "Mcdonalds" cw.. When was the last time ANYONE hyped up anything McDonalds related?

Sorry saw this buried in my email.

A few other interesting comments;

- they stated that there are roughly 2.4 million individual SKUs shipped from their Asia factories each day. They didn't give specifics on mix, but think of this as total number of widgets shipped, could be a pack of socks, hat, sneakers, shirt, etc.

- discussed their new product development process. Products that are launched say today were started roughly two years ago. They're released to production a minimum of 18 months before they hit the market. This means the products was designed, tested, wear trials, prototyped, etc. then released to production and could be immediately produced or at some point over the next six months prior to launch. This doesn't mean the product was produced 18 months ago. The point was that products they're developing now we'll see in stores in roughly two years.

these are a lot nicer than half the **** I see people wearing these days, maybe the younger cats don't like em much but I'm in my early 30's and thought these were fire, glad I was able to cop with ease.

I'm a little older than you are, I personally don't relate to the sneaker or sweater it was based off. Not sure if it's a younger vs. older thing. Style is subjective, we don't all like the same things.

Personally that black custom pair pictured in this thread is much nicer. If those came out that way I would have been temped to buy.
