Just moved into an apartment with my best friend Vol. Roommates

my best friend and i shared a studio apartment in Hollywood for a month. we had a bed and air mattress and alternated each day who got what. it was a fun time except for when we were talking to these two chicks and he brought one home and i struck out with the other. i had to sleep in the courtyard with no blanket as he got the yambs. gets cold as **** at night in LA. only issue we had was the dishes. dude refused to do the dishes and i did as well out of spite. we made some awesome meals though.
1. All this time for some reason I figured you were in NYC

2. How the hell would it ever be a good idea to share a studio

3. Yall really exchanging beds all nice, my bed is MY BED aint nobody, especially another male even sitting on it

at sleeping outside, someone on a dry spell gonna be spending weeks at a time in the hallway or outside when the other is flourishing with the yambs

 this was like 3 summers ago we were on vacation in LA for the month. got the apartment off airbnb. I'm still in NY  son it was so cold out there. after a few hours i said **** this and just walked back to the room. apparently at the same time he was walking her out. get back to the room and napoleon dynamite was on the tv. ******* weirdos.

when we left we had the kitchen sink literally filled with dishes. said **** it and just left them there

Breh how messy did that **** get at times, I can only imagine. Unless both are minimalists.. Hollywood life is cray doe, so I don't blame you for trying

we both lived out of our suitcases. the apartment itself was actually pretty decent sized. wasn't like a studio in NY thats stupid small so we weren't too congested. sink was always full of dishes though  we would cook and neither of us would cave in to do the dishes :smh: we didn't have a table though so we used the ironing board or counter to eat on  yeah and it was a fun experience just seeing what its like living in hollywood. the complex had a pretty dope courtyard and pool, plus we were literally in the middle of everything on sunset and vine. the dude that sublet the apartment to us left his clothes and **** in the closet. we drove down to vegas and my boy didn't have dress shoes so he snatched this pair of DS ones the dude left behind and scuffed them all up on the dance floor

my friend and i had a similar situation right after college. we rented a large studio together (still a studio  ) for six months. it was temporary until we could afford to find something so i ended getting on of those foldable mattress. i just decided to move back with the parents and he kept the studio.

could never do roommates again. dont know how folks do it in sf. rent is expensive and you got 3-4 in one apt. it would drive me insane

been living with a friend from NT since December in LBC, I just moved from Savannah, GA.

it's going well, no bills have been paid late ever. my room gets a lil messy at times, but the common areas stay clean.

communication is key.

Dog, I don't blame you at all you lived where the action is. For a certain amount of time, that sounds really fun

yeah it was fun for the most part. started to get rough at the end though  you can't share a studio for much longer than that.

Nah, can't do roommates, but that's only because i've done it. If you're gonna do it, while you're young is the best time. Good times to be had if you all have adventures together. Otherwise, people's inconsiderate nature will eventually kick in. I can be sensitive to things at times, but it really just comes down to respect.

Now that I think of it I don't think I've ever seen a successful roommate story
Especially the ones that involve "best friends".

Don't mean to hi-jack a thread but how many y'all are pushing your budget by living in a nice apartment complex?
Thinking about moving inside the city I work in. It's a long a commute everyday to and from work. Problem is , the area that my job is located in is terrible. The area I'm looking at has nice apartments but will take up 50% of my monthly income. (utilities included). It's near downtown Dallas. I like it. I feel MOTIVATED when I'm in that area. Seeing these North Dallas cats rollin' up in their 'Rarri's and Rovas gets me hyped.

and the girls

I think I rather pay more to live in a safer neighborhood. I'd hate to have my car jacked or have loud neighbors.

I thought it was bros before ____. I would've looked at dude like he was crazy if he thought I was leaving

man it was either he ****** in front of me or i sat in the bathroom or we finagled it into an eiffel tower. needless to say, i'm totally fine with having slept outside in the cold for a few hours

Nothing fun about going through a dry spell after a breakup and hearing your roommate smashing all loud. Used to wanna cut dude's throat. :smh:

I was fortunate in college. Noticed a trend, my roommates were almost always in serious relationships (three separate occasions). I don't know if it's a chick thing or my roommates' girlfriends were keen to give me privacy, but all the couples slept in the girl's room way more than ours.

Quick story: My sophomore year, didn't really mesh with my assigned suite mates. They were into different music and track bikes so we didn't talk much. One afternoon I had a girl over and didn't think she was that loud. According to my suite mates, she was moaning through the wall(s) and they were sitting in the living room (common space) listening and watching TV quietly. Side bar: That chick was dope. Sofrito was our spot and she wanted to bang me in the dorm elevator. Tragic flaw? Cocaine addict.

At least you have a semblance of decency and common courtesy. Junior year: Different set of suite mates, became much closer friends in comparison to my first story. We had two Asian girls over, one Korean and the other Mongolian. Unique notch on the belt, I know. Anyway somehow I got saddled with the Mongolian, she was the lesser attractive of the two. Girl is on my bed pouring her heart out to me. Life story, the whole deal. Just broke up with a long-term boyfriend. The Lothario in me saw an opening to knock boots. Little did I know or realize that I forgot to close or lock the door. So my suite mates decided to be annoying, popping in randomly with play-by-play that would make Marv Albert proud. I didn't care, don't mind performing under the bright lights. Found out after, I was only her second sexual partner which made sense because she was very inexperienced during our tryst and wouldn't give head even though I ate her out for a solid half of college basketball.

Uptown? Looked into it but I couldn't see myself living in that area. Way too pretentious and materialistic for my taste. That's the home of the $30K millionaire. A lot of folks over there are just trying to stunt on each other..just wasn't me.

I found a spot dead in the middle of the "hipster/laid back" neighborhood in Dallas for a decent price. I'll be less than 100 feet away from coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, etc. and the people in the area are really down to earth.
