FIRST TIME TO HAWAII.....CAN I GET ANY HELPFUL TIPS???

Here's just a few off the top of my head

Definitely check out side street and have their fried rice and pork chops.

If u wanna save don't stay in the heart of Waikiki. Amenities are nice but if u are not into all that and just need a room u can find some good deals outside. The modern is a nice hotel but can be slightly pricey. It's newer so that's nice.

Hike diamond head and the pillbox close to lanika. Hike pillbox in the morning before the sun gets too hot and then head to lanikai after to cool off. Used to be one of the nicest beaches in the world until too many tourists got to it. It's still nice tho. Sand is heaven there.

Make it out to north shore and Sandys beach. Be careful jumpin into the water if ur not good with the ocean. It can be dangerous for a beginner. Check out the shrimp trucks in north shore. There are a few good ones. Giovannis is the most popular.

Check out koolina and the lagoons and possibly the Disney resort if ur on that side. It's another place to just chill and more quiet than Waikiki.

Be careful of the homeless and crazies. They are everywhere in "town". Don't go into waikikis beaches.

Been here on Oahu for 10 years so if u have any questions feel free to pm
Good lookin out my dude

If y'all into the adventure type, hike Koko Head, Diamond Head, Pali Lookout, sneak around coast guard and hike Haiku Stairs (Stairway to Heaven) y'all can do ghost hunts... a lot of legends in Hawaii.

Check out Manoa Falls, Waimea Falls, Likeke Falls... you can't hike Sacred Falls anymore but can take the Helicopter tour.

Try out local food spots, Zippys, Gracies, Matsumotos, Cholo's mexican grill, Cookie Corner.... ect.

Just have fun brah! Be smart financially, but at the same time... don't hold back! It's a vacation!

Check out VRBO as an alternative to hotels. Do Diamond Head earlier as it gets crowded which makes any form of hiking annoying unless you like going slow.

Headed to Maui and Kauai first week in May...can't happen soon enough.

 That dude is ignorant. Should have got rocked the fair one.

Although Hawaiians love MMA/Muay Thai.

African Americans are still considered haole and can be looked down upon. If ur a tourist and u act like one ur bound to get some kickback from some locals but most of us are friendly and laid back. Just don't try to act out of place in front of the wrong people. I've seen some bad experiences with locals and tourists. Don't get me wrong tho Hawaii is a really friendly place. But we can spot a fake or someone that is trying too hard to fit in. Just be yourself and you can find your niche

As for the financial district in oahu its small. 4 main banks and not much other finance on the island expect for some other investment companies. It's nothing special out here and you have to really know what you are doing and price yourself or know someone that is already in the big 4. It's a who you know not what you know type of mentality in Hawaii. It was tough for me and my girlfriend when we were first starting out here in college. She went to graduate school for finance and had a hard time at first finding something. Our connections helped us more than anything when we came out of college.

First off what island are you going to?

Born and raised on Oahu, so i can definitely help you out on that but...

other islands, only small kine help la dat.

What u mean
I don't get it
Someone visits Hawaii as a tourist and wants to see the islands
And people get upset
And they would get upset cause I act like a tourist???
And what u mean how can tourists be fake and try to fit in?
I'm just curious I just wanna try different food spots
Snorkel see the beach and do a luau
Things I never done
Why do locals get upset at people just tryna do those types of things

Trust bro... you're good! Don't think to much into it.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be! Just think of it as going to the "hood"... you wouldn't try and turn up in front of a neighborhood you're not from right? You wouldn't go flexing on dudes when it's not your turf right? Same rules apply.

Just be yourself, don't go looking for trouble, because you will find it, if you are.

But back to your original question.... i'm guessing you meant yambs, correct? Sorry bro, the culture there is a lot more strict!

Doesn't mean you can't scoop up some tourist yambs though! :smokin

We olanning to hit up Oahu
Where will you guys be staying
Tryna plan a trip to take my girl for her bday in June
Any tips would be helpful
Gonna probably take her to Waikiki unless yall got better ideas
Don't wanna cash out like that for trip or hotel
Wanna save most money for activities and stuff out there
Willing to after taxes spend at the MOST $2,000 on hotel and flight
But hopefully can get for the 15-1600 range
Not sure on how long either 4, 5 or 7 days
Also where can we do the luau thing
Is that at like the hotel do I need to do a fancy hotel to enjoy that or what
Please help with tips and advice PLEASE
I wanna snorkel luau and other stuff so preferably not spend most on flight and hotel
I can do a decent room if it can save a few hundred but I don't want anything janky
Please help guys
K, If you dont wanna spend to much money, heres what i would do,

Lodging - Check hotels.com/orbitz/kayak but also check air b&b, you can get some awesome deals,If your are on a budget you won't need a fancy hotel, you can enjoy hawaii without a 5 star hotel, you only need a place to sleep. *If you do plan on drinking, i would stay somewhere in town.  There are A LOT of DUI patrols, road blocks in Waikiki almost every weekend. Do not risk getting a DUI there, its gonna cost you to have to go back and forth for your court dates.  Most of my friends were stupid enough to get multiple DUIs

Luau - http://www.germainesluau.com/  - Kinda expensive but if its something you wanna do then check them out or check this out

PCC - Polynesian cultural center  -http://www.polynesia.com/

You're gonna have to spend some money of this if this is something you wanna do.  Very touristy but who gives a ****, do what you want.

Cheap snorkeling

http://www.yelp.com/biz/hanauma-bay-nature-preserve-park-honolulu -Hanauma Bay - Again very touristy but cheap and has everything you need there (gear for rental)

Decent snorkeling , but you have to swim out past the main area to see some cool stuff, make sure you can swim though, Summer time the south shore and east side has some swells. If you

can't swim that well in ocean water don't go out too far.

Beaches -

Waimea Bay  - An absolute must, water is clear as day out there.  Summer time is perfect for tourist, Waves are not big at all. During the winter the waves can reach over 40 feet.  Also, check out Waimea falls , small hike and right by this beach.  You have to stop by here.

Lanikai/Kailua Beach Park - Nice beach, take your chick there, she will love it.

Waikiki - Check it  out, don't spend all day here, wayyyy too many tourist.

Sandy Beach/ Makapupu - Caution - IF YOU CANNOT SWIM DO NOT JUMP IN THE WATER.  The shore break is intense, i grew up swimming in this water and the waves are ultra powerful.  There is an ambulance at the beach because people think they can swim but can't.  But its also i great place to smoke a joint and watch tourist get slammed into the shore.  You might even see a boob or too..Pretty funny...

Sunset - Unreal sunsets. plan to end your day here  The beach is amazing..

Hiking - Cheap and mostly free - Waimea Falls is good - listed above

Diamond Head hike is cheap and easy - Amazing Views at the top - This is something i definitely recommend to a first time visitor  that isn't looking travel far and easy access, cost 5 bucks to park

Someone mention stairway to heaven  - Unreal hike but not for a first time visitor who doesn't know where this is, you have to go through some backyards of people houses.. So for your first trip take it easy

Food -

Foodland poke and poke bowls - You have to eat fish when you are there, this is the absolute staple of hawaii food

Side Street Inn - 2 locations in town - This is where to locals go to eat, unreal food and a good price - full bar as well

Zippys - Local's Favorite all day. some spots open 24 hours, great after drinking food.

Shrimp Truck North Shore - My suggestion is one day hit the north shore - Waimea Bay, Waimea falls hike and a shrimp truck.  The drive is very scenic as well..I can get into more food details as you trip gets closer

Nightlife -

Chinatown - over the past few year , hawaii has been renovating china town.  Bars, restaurants, and culture into this area.  First Fridays is crackin - its like a block party they do first fridays of every month

D&B - Yes, Dave and Busters, on wednesday nights during the summer there is a line of 50 people to get in, get there early - from 10 to close its HALF OFF THE ENTIRE BAR. Steals...

I could go on and on, Let me know what areas you need more info and i got you braddah.

I reccomend Maui.

Stayed in Lahaina at the Sheraton.  It was bangin.  Beach right outside, snorkeling with turtles and everything.

http://www.sheraton-maui.com/

Had a good Luau in Lahaina that we went too as well.

Also went snuba diving on the "pride of maui".

Check it out man, you can't go wrong with Maui.
