17 Year Old Girl Convinces Friend To Commit Suicide, Then Acts Like She Cares, Faces Manslaughter Ch

How is convincing someone who is already suicidal to kill themselves impressive?

because he had options. We all have options. He could've just as easily, not. He got out of the car, she convinced him, through text, to get back in the vehicle. Nevermind the wicked nature, take a step back for a second and recognize the mental chess game she played. I'm not excusing anything she did, let's be clear. She was foul in every sense of the word, I don't condone her actions. I do however find value in mental feats. Shame she didn't use her talent for good. Shorty is a sociopath and needs some help.

you would hope she has strong mental willpower, not even shaq would be able to palm that fivehead of hers

Sounds like an L.A. Noir movie.
"Chicks wants the fame, the glamour, the attention"
"All this? For what?"
"Because she's has this dream see"
"The perfect life, a perfect house with a little dog house behind a white picket fence"
"Perfect husband, perfect two kids"
""With a perfect backstory, great college application"
"Her idea, of being the perfect woman"
"But the dirty deed she used to make herself look all clean, came back."
Like a toy train on a circular track."
"All this, for that"

They both needed help. He needed someone to show him his life has value if he just took the proper steps and she needed someone to show her manipulation can only get you so far before it fires back at you.

Nah, I get how you're looking at it, and that you're not condoning it. You need not explain that.

I see what you're saying. I definitely value mental feats as well. While we all do have options, most of them can appear to be the furthest thing from feasible when you're suicidal. Which is why I don't view what she did impressive or talented. Now someone who can do that to someone who isn't depressed, or suicidal? That's a real talent imo.

All she did was encourage a suicidal person on the edge to jump...happens a lot. Doesn't take any talent to do that. I remember reading a story like this on the bb forums where some kid was threatening to kill himself and everyone in the chat was telling him to do it and so he did. Also I've heard multiple stories about people standing on a ledge and the crowd starts encouraging them and they end up doing it.

That's why I'll never play around with someone when they say that stuff. Worst I'd do is just ignore it if I think it's bs.

it takes a terrible human being to do something like this but people have the right to say whatever they want to other people. its on the person being talked to to know better and not harm himself.
Why do so many ppl like you not understand what it means to deal with a mentally ill person?

Is it just ignorance?

to really test her manipulation skills, shorty should've told him not to kill himself, if he had already decided he was going to and started carrying it out. Might've had a career as a negotiator.

CIA Need to recruit that 17 year old! LoL

Our enemies will have her phone number on block mode!

Taboo.. Stigma associated with the subject. The fact that it's not real until it's personal..by personal I mean someone they may know, or knew.. Until it hit home its just somebody else's problem.

I agree with you 100% tho man, being suicidal is a mental illness and needs to be treated as such. These people are crying out for help man, we should want to help people in need..

That young man would still be here if he had a better person to talk to..

i dont see why jokes are getting thrown around in here?
Shaq couldnt palm her forehand, professor X, CIA should recruit her... c'mon guys I hope you're better than that

tragedy and she is a terrible person for that. I wonder how the judge and jury is going to rule on this, if it was personally up to me she'd definately be facing 10+ years in prison

Who is to say she didn't do that once before? Treat son like a yo-yo, found little use for him later and finally steered him to committing that?

No, negotiators usually have different skills. That type of manipulation requires some daily interaction. Not just pick up a phone and tell you to kill yourself or not.

Its 2015, and people still do not understand that ALL of your text messages and social media interactions can be recovered at any time.

Sad story tho. Father Doug said it best. " What we have here is a crazy *****!"
Not true. For instance sprint doesnt hold text messages only meta data. some providers hold for 48 hours

NT law experts....is this legal? If you didn't pull the trigger and you have decision making capacity, how is someone telling you to kill yourself manslaughter?
I think it boils down to intent. If a bully says go kill yourself, depending on the circumstance it could be argued that while it's wrong the bully didn't actually want a person to kill themselves. This girls goal was for him to commit suicide. you have an unstable person with a fragile psyche and she continuously told him to do it and even after he left the car she kept pushing it.

It's like, if you wind up a crazy person and put thoughts into their head that they should go shoot up a school, should you not be held responsible?

Now whether a jury will convict her, well I don't think people are educated enough on mental health or will just see it as a crazy person being crazy

there is an update though. I saw the newest headline on cnn yesterday i think. I think she was found guilty. I forget the law they used to prosecute, but 'something, something, blah blah blah..she was responsible.'

It can actually still be pulled from your phone...

Police have programs and devices, I know one of the smaller police departments I work with has a small black device that costs about $10k then there's all this software then another lil device that's about $1k and supposedly they can pull any picture or text you have deleted from your phone.

Didn't think it was actually possible but kinda scary if he's 100% right
