What's worth it to get into a fight as an adult?

Recently had a close call while playing basketball the other day.

Scrawny dude who nobody likes and gets upset anytime you play physical with him got in my face and started talking **** about how he was going to "rock my world" and saying personal **** about my ex gf. I just laughed it off and kept it moving.

Right call, or should I have taught the dude a lesson? My issue is I just graduated college and started working full-time at the hospital that my mom has worked at for over 10 years. I have a good relationship with the CEO and other higher ups and my mom is well respected throughout the whole hospital. If I knock this dude out and break his nose/jaw he's obviously going to the local hospital that I happen to be employed at. Meanwhile this dude has absolutely nothing going for him...27 and sells drugs, smokes weed and plays video games all day, works part time at some warehouse, owes a ton of people money including his own roommate that was out there, never had a girlfriend and treats every pickup and rec league game like it's the NBA Finals. If I embarass him in front of his only group of "friends" and he has to go to the hospital to get his busted up face fixed they're going to start asking questions and I'm not trying to have my name involved with any of that.

What would you guys have done in this situation? I'll be seeing this dude again soon, as he plays fairly often at a couple gyms I play pickup at.

Funny you say that. About a year ago, this dude set a hard/blind screen on me. Legit knocked me down. And then he just stood and looked over me like he wanted to do something. We got in eachother's faces and then I was just like, forget it. EYE have too much to lose. Dude was one of those fake thug type dudes. Tats on his face like that is supposed to make him scary or something.

But yea, if you have ANYTHING to lose, don't fight

He said he was gonna rock yo world ?? Loool.

Being peaceful is concentrated strength.
I only hit someone if they hit me first.

I can also claim self defense when i kill them.

That first hit could be the last depending on who's throwing it.

You did the right thing, I just hope dude doesn't start thinking he herbed you and tries to make a habit of it

The biggest problem is this dude is like 5'11 140 pounds. I could legitimately kill the dude with my bare hands. That's honestly what scares me the most when I think about if this kid provokes me again next time we play.

You just have to let that **** ride bro

You're relatuvely young and you don't want this on your record

Just chill or don't event hoop there anymore
If he hits you first that's different

But let dude make it

I know the type that you're talking about. The ones that go so hard and want to flex .

I'm like why are you so angry kindle? Get some yambs and calm the hell down. Lolol

But you absolutely did the right thing. Let somebody else show him a lesson. You don't need that drama in your life

As much as you'd want to fight someone this guy right here is right

Never know what could happen after

Im 29, and I don't ever plan on throwing a punch for rest of my life unless I'm swung on first.

If it ain't worth dying for. It aint worth it.

only people i would fight for is my family and my boys if they needed me too...other than that...these type of guys will come into your life every now and then and will make you question if you should prove a point or not....

the worst part about these situations is your naturally start questioning yourself...but in reality you win...

but to be honest...no one has ever tried to press me on the basketball court....you have to set that tone from the beginning...can't let guys like that even get the thought of doing that...this is one reason why i always play pick up with a few guys (and 1 or 2 goons who are bout it)....

more and more there seems to always be fights in the hood rec gyms...bunch of insecure dudes thinking that being better than another in ball some how proves better life status...having a couple of crazy friends with you at the gym always ensures that if someone gets out of line, its those guys who don't have nothing to lose and have your back...

OP don't let this happen to you underestimating dude.

It would have to be over my family at this point, then it's whatever, I'm a big dude tho, so people are usually pretty chill.

Nothing. I have medical connects that will put whatever I need on my medical report to file a battery charge with the police.

Last time someone laid the hands on me I was suckerpunched by a dude who ran over my bicycle as I was getting a can of soda.

He got out of his car after he ran over my bike and starting yelling at me so I just replied "yeah ok whatever bruh" as I was picking up my bicycle.

He suckerpunched me in the face and quickly ran back to his BMW and sped off.

This was at a vending machine which has cameras.

Got a doctor to write up a medical report stating I received a concussion from his punch and then filed a battery, illegal parking, reckless driving and fleeing the crime charge.

Lost his license for a whole month and it'll permanently be on his record.

Don't care at all. If anyone lays the hands on me best believe you're gonna pay for it.

Sells drugs, owes roommate money...

Let that wannabe trap boy cook OP

I'm 26, probably been in damn near 100 fist fights, only 1 since high school.

**** ain't worth it... Especially if/when other people/weapons get involved.

Some dudes have too much heart and haven had that fear instilled into them. They need theyre first *** whoppin then they wont be out actin reckless.

Last time I got into a fight I spent the weekend in jail. No more fighting for me. Had my family worried sick.

It was against my brother. smh

It's a lot of dudes out here like this and they seem to want to start problems the most.

I was an adult before I had a child. So even as an adult, there was an element of "we about to show you what happens when you come out looking for problems".

Like someone else said, I have kids now. And my wife has legit been life coaching me to get off that ****

Damb bruh.. how somebody run over your bike.. start yelling at you... And your guard is still down so he was actually able to suckerpunch you? You need situational awareness and self defense training. You are are food out there.
