Who here generously does not listen to or cares for J. Cole

I have the exact same sentiments towards Cole as you.  Enjoyed the warm up and knew he had potential, but nothing has really moved me after that.  Although I will say his new album is better than anything after the warm up.  He's not bad, but his music is just boring.  He's really good at making mediocre music, if you get what I'm saying.  The guy just really knows how to connect with his fans, that's where the hype comes from.

Agreed with everything OP and dude above me said.

Son needs to change his name to J. Dull.

The best storyteller in rap?  Currently? All time?  Either way I disagree with that and don't even really think its worth debating.

I think that's the problem with Cole.  He's not the best at anything.  He's a solid, well rounded artist, but he doesn't stand out in any one category.  Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but whatever Cole is good at, there's other rappers that are better that I much rather listen too.

For the most part, He was pandering to the radio with his first two albums.

He stopped caring about that for the most recent one, and IMO, the feel of FHD front to back is the closest to his tapes. If he stays on this route, I really think his magnum opus will be his next project.

i find him to be very "meh". not bad but not great either. find myself ZZzzz thru some of his songs sometimes.

*raises hand*

I downloaded some of his mixtapes after I saw people talking about him.

Didn't like it. Too bland/boring.

Then multiple people told me this last album was solid.

I heard a couple songs and liked them so I downloaded the album.

Boring. Only songs I liked were the couple I heard my friends playing.

I don't knock people who like his stuff tho. He's obviously talented. Just not my cup of tea.

You gotta fix that thread title. That's terrible.

I don't listen to Cole. He can rap but I find him to be boring and I don't like his flow at times. That tough hard flow is corny as hell.

I get into this discussion all the time with people I know. When the come-up dropped, then the warm-up I thought J.Cole was the savior of the game and thought he would die a legend haha. Him and Drake was going to be the modern day Jay and Nas to my son. Friday Night Lights was the last mixtape I actually rocked with of his and I won't even give his new stuff an illegal download after that horrible Sideline story joint he dropped and after Born Sinner nearly claimed my life when I I dosed off on the highway listening to that boring *** cd. Cole don't do it for me no more and I haven't listened to nothing off his new album except his radio single that I can't name.

TLDR: He let Nas down

I meant like not care or don't listen in a generous way, as in not bashing him? nT is a tough crowd when it comes to wording but yeah

jcole = meh

Cole is the best storyteller in rap
Lulz.

This. He's just like Lil Sean.
He needs better production.
& This.

I was a big fan of his till Sideline Story. I rocked with it at first but over time I grew to hate it. For a guy that can drop Beautiful Bliss, he should not be saying **** like "You think that you the **** but you can't outfart me". I heard Born Sinner and it did nothing for me. I really think he's just a variant Drake who spits conscious raps with no charisma. And his stans are ridiculous. Granted I'm a Kendrick stan, but we all know who's better.

 son cant be serious b

Been saving money after replacing the diphenhydramine subscription from amazon with his last album after giving it a spin due to the hype.

I agree with his production, he needs more life in his beats. I thought the production on Born Sinner really let the project down and I haven't listened to it in over a year. His new project is actually really good, but again there are a few songs where the tempo is just too slow.

Still when we talk about the leaders of the new school I think Cole has to be mentioned up there with Kendrick and Drake (as much as I can't stand him ). He pushes conscious music at a mainstream level that few others do.

Loved his mixtapes, hated his first two albums, got my interest back with Forest Hills Drive. That's a really good album.
