I know NT general is the Florida of old "sneaker heads"

Last pair of sneakers I bought (aside from Nike Running shoes) were the Jordan Retro Fire Red V (2006).
I sold more than half of my shoes.
Kept about 20 pairs, wear none of them

I wore my Tiffany lows to death and I think they're beyond repair :frown:

Usual story...

At my peak, had around 180 pairs of Air Jordans and around 70 pairs of Nike/other brands... down to roughly 60-70 pairs total now.

I'll always love kicks... I'll always love the pairs I've owned over the years... I'll always love wearing some of my older faves (as long as I can)

But gone is the love for the culture and what it's become, and especially how the business model/practices of the sneaker companies evolved for the worse. It just changed too much, raffles and lotteries, Twitter, Bots, virtually every single release is limited or some idiotic gimmick, overpriced and low quality, and so on and so on...

Well said with those last 2 paragraphs. I feel the exact same way.

At the height of it, I probably had 100 pairs. Used to buy 2 of every Jordan retro release, along with everything else. Around '05 I lost interest in Jordan Brand thanks to the quality decline, and haven't kept a pair since.

Now it's Air Max, New Balance, Footscapes and Forces for me. I usually buy 2-3 pairs a month, but paying retail is never an option for me. Sneakers just aren't THAT important to me now to justify dropping $150-200. I'm about that sub-$100 life now.

Pretty sure I'll never stop loving sneakers--I was raised like this. But as I get older, I realize that they're not essential and they take a backseat to other priorities in life. I try to keep it around 25-30 pairs now. And pairs that don't get worn (excluding grails) get purged and new shoes come into the fold with that money.

idk I'll lose intrest eventually, it's just a habit now, not really a "passion" (I use that VERY loosely)
I said this exact same thing to a friend the other day.

I'm still fairly into sneakers, but it's definitely not the same. Got around 110 pairs (haven't counted in a while, just estimating), but I only wear about 10 on a consistent basis. I wanna sell a bunch of the shoes I never wear and only buy more pairs of my favorite. Pretty much all of the shoes I bought last year got worn only once or twice and then shoved in the box; that's when I realized that I need to chill.

Still got a pair of '06 Grape V's lined up for this weekend, though. I have a sickness.

At my peak? I don't eem know.

Never was a "collector" of any particular model, I just bought what I liked that was available in my size. The shoes that I have bought more pairs of over the years are Air Force 1's.

Right now, I have 40 something pairs of shoes. Most of that is AF-1's, some are Air Maxes, Flyknit Racers, Flyknit Lunars, and some random pairs. Then I have like 6 or 7 pairs of dress shoes, a couple pairs of desert boots and three pairs of Timbs.

I'm not "into" shoes anymore, but I still buy what I like, if that makes sense. I just don't check for every release and plan like I used to. I actually get kind of embarrassed when someone notices how I always have different pairs on.

For those that have sold collections, how do you do it at one time? I actually want to sell all of my shoes, but I don't feel like selling them individually

Had about 40 pairs but sold almost all of them. Only have about 4-5 pairs left from my collection. My new vice is traveling and I'd rather spend my money on seeing the world :pimp: Still love shoes but just don't have the time and energy to be running around or going online and playing the NDC lottery anymore. I'd rather pay the resellers premium and have them do the leg work and standing outside for a pair of shoes ....not about that life anymore

At my peak, I had well over 130 pairs. Slowly started getting rid of them 2 years ago, and now I'm down to about 20-30 pairs. I'll get rid of those by the time summer rolls around, I just have find some time to list them.

I don't buy shoes like that anymore, and I couldn't tell you what's coming out next. I look back now and feel so foolish for caring about shoes so much.

+1 for similar feels.

When I lived in NYC I sold most of them through Craigslist but lately have sold most of my pairs through FB groups and IG. Haven't had any problems selling them through there at all.

At my peak, I had 103 pairs.  After my divorce I got rid of over half between my nephews and giving some to Goodwill.  Now, I have about 35, give or take a few.  Cant even unload them cause they've all been worn frequently.  Sad thing is, they're just taking up space in my closet.  I only wear my flyknit maxes now, my Js are too uncomfy

Still have about 25 pairs like 8DS js that I don't even see myself wearing except maybe the Carmine's.the only pair of Jordan's I still use are the infra 6s the spending has gone to designer shoes so it might even be worse now.

Man, yall kats were serious with it. At my peak I might have had 30-35 kicks. Gave a lot to my brother and donated some to Goodwill. I'm down to about 15 pairs, and will always have at least 10. I'm done paying big money, tho. I get most of my kicks from the NIke outlet for $75 or less.

But do you guy still buy or rock sneakers much? How many did you have at the peak of you sneaker enthusiasm? How many do you have now? Do you guys still keep an out out in the JB and Nike/Nike Retro forums to see if anything catches your eye? Do you think you're out the game for good or could you see yourself reverting some day?

I'm personally down to about 6 pairs of kicks. DS Columbias, flint 13s (05'), Concords, blk/red 13s (not those "dirty bred" monstrosities  ), Carmines and the blk/stealth 23s.

I check out JB some times, but it's gotten increasingly easier to say "I'm officially out of the game" lately. I was waiting for my grails (columbias). All the pairs of kicks I have are a part of my personal top 10 of all time. I figure if I get the remaining 5, I can hang it up for good. I hardly ever wear my kicks though.

Started seriously collecting around '03 right outta college, had around 35 pairs at my peak, sold my entire collection including vintage Jordan gear(blue tag) , SB Dunks and Jordan jerseys around '05 after being disgusted with the hobby of trying to collect and cop. Everything was DS at the time aside from some Carolina SB Hemps AJ IX's that I would rock on release days with the later that I hoop'd in. Made a killing selling my collection on the 'bay especially this old skool Air Jordan shopping bag from like '86 that I regret to this day.

Fast forward to late 2013. Cop'd some Space Jams to hoop in, still use ''em. The passion for AJ's came back strong and I tried to cop the Gammas at Christmas...struck out. Cop'd my first pair of J's in almost a decade with the white/Infrared VI's last year and cop'd a few select pairs in 2014, mostly OG colorways in what I remember MJ actually wearing on the court. Currently holding at 6 pairs right now? Will keep the passion going "in going forward" with various releases. Planning to cop the 45 X's in a few weeks with my last cop'd pair being the Carolina XI's over the holidays. My story.

I probably have about 20 or so pairs from back in the day. Don't wear any of them. Threw/gave away all my Jordans tho.

Haven't bought or worn any shoes other than vans, chucks, or jack purcells close to 10 years now.

I rarely wear sneakers anymore. Im one of those guys who is always wearing boat shoes/dress shoes(yea, yea I know). I dress much more modestly than I ever have and now prefer comfort over flair. That said I still have sneakers ive owned for 8+ years and have never worn or only worn once. I pulled out my goldenrod dunk hi and felt weird wearing yellow sneakers. Too loud for my taste now, but I have no interest in selling them.

That said I have to restrain myself from browsing the jordan and nike retro forums because I know I'll relapse and start dropping 100s if not 1000s on sneakers like I use to years ago

I saw the picture of the aqua 8s coming back out and started planning to cop 3 pairs

I damn near lost my mind when I saw some of the huarache flights they were bringing back out. But even still, I fell back. I have too many other priorities now to be spending bread like that on sneakers. And even then, if I do buy all these sneakers they would probably go years without being worn. I've become a latent collector of sorts, which is ironic given the 'rock everything' mentality I use to have.
Bruh if I could be barefooted and wear a 5x tee I'd be cool

I don't really buy sneakers that much anymore. If I do its because I'm in the market for something I want/need (i.e. I need some new running shoes/ I want some new blue sneakers).

Back in like 2006 I had maybe ~60 pairs (no doubles). I only have 2 pairs of sneakers that I consistently wear now. I still have like 10 pairs of sportswear sneakers (retro Jordans, air maxes and nike basketball) that I've had over the years. I like the models and wear them every blue moon.

I still appreciate sneaker designs and nostalgia and participate in the threads. Like seeing the Aqua 8s returning is kind of cool and I've posted in the threads, but I have no intention in buying them.

Checking for sneakers isn't something I care for either. I don't know what released this past weekend and I don't know what drops next weekend. If i go in the store or go to an online shop and see a sneaker that fits what I want I'll buy.

Now only 15-20 in closet. I'd still be buying but kids/bills come first. If I win the lottery, my first purchase gona b ps2 af1 before a car and a house smh

Im still into shoes but I had to sell some of them when I had financial troubles related to school and taking the CPA exam. They were all my SBs and most of my Js. I just havent had the heart to replace the SBs. A lot of the Js I sold will likely get remastered sooner or later so I aint too worried.

I also travel a lot. And buy nice clothes. I can only afford so much of all my ridiculously expensive hobbies. Also the fact that a lot of sneaker lines have gone up 50-80 in the last 6 or 7 years makes me really need to like a shoe before i buy it. I can like a shoe but choose not to cop because "its nice, not $190 nice tho"

I'm 43 and have been collecting for about thirty years.  At my peak, while working for NIKE Basketball, I owned over 150 player exclusives .  I traded or sold those and now I have about twenty pairs of running, crosstraining, and basketball shoes.  I don't visit the NIKE or Jordan Brand forums much because there are too many releases to keep up with and most of them are awful.  I still notice other people's shoes and will start conversations if someone has on something really rare.  I visit my local shoe shops in Houston but they don't carry my size (15.5 - 16).  I've posted pics of my collection several times over the years, but if you guys are interested I can post them again.

One strange thing I've noticed - I have not seen ANYONE wearing current Air Jordans on the street or on the court for several years.  And I'm referring specifically to the Air Jordan numbered models (i.e. Air Jordan XX9)  as opposed to Jordan Brand signature, lifestyle, or team shoes.  Is this true in other areas?

i could sworn around my area I dont see anyone rocking the kind of nikes and js we see on wdywt posts
barely seen anyone even rock foams, trainers or even any jordan other than a 4, 6 or 11

I'm def around the same stage in life as you Blink.

I will be 27 next week and I'm getting further along in my career.

I probably could wear sneakers more if I wanted to but I haven't really felt the urge in a while. I probably have somewhere around 80 kicks now. 20 or so are DS and will be worn over the next couple of years.

At my peak I was somewhere above 150 or so.

My "dream" collection is around 50 or so pairs. I should've been down to that number but I always end up picking up random *** SBs and ****. The more and more I look at JB the less I'm tempted to actually buy ****.

I haven't bought anything this year but I did end last year with Melo 1s and Infrared 6s so who knows what will happen.

You old bruh

I got about 60-70 pair, every time I say i'm "out" nike drops a shoe like the scream green huaraches or the air max 93's from last summer. Really i'm just waiting to see what Nike does with Paytons line then i'll start getting rid of all my impulse buys like my 49er speed turfs from a couple years back. Lately i've been all on the lunar flyknit runners.

loved shoes since i was 10 and stopped copping shoes since i was 19-20

man at my peak i was copping atleast 4 pairs a year would semi frequent sneaker section now not no more
