That crack era, when cats was getting crazy loot off that dope. NYC was at it's grittiest, it's grimiest, nasty, dutty and stinking . Definitely a horrible period of time which I'm glad doesn't exist anymore. Thanks Guliani

I just saw this preview and it sent chills up my spine, god. Gave me goosebumps. The music at the end made my eyes roll behind into my head. A lot of cats today would not be able to survive that era

This thread gets made on a monthly basis. A bunch of people who have never spent 24 hours in the hood will come in here talking about "I want the dirty crackhead and criminal infested NYC back, people too soft these days"

 @ "classic era"

That 70s into early 80s life I heard dumps on all other decades.

I'd love to see what Bmore and DC looked like. And other major cities

ninja use to be in these threads like clockwork...

Not even from NYC, but I love looking back at the old history of the city. Especially on times when it was more grimy.

YOOOOO

REP X 100 FOR EVERYTHING OP SAID

I was born and raised in NYC and **** is WAAYYYYY different than it is back in the day, god
i lived in both Brooklyn and Queens..and to keep it real..BOTH of them boroughs was getting gully
****** in Queens was bucking HARD..
Back in the era of SUPREME TEAM, ****** was posted up in south side just getting money like clockwork
Luckily I never had to take part in no illegal activities, per say... But i was out there regardless to say the least viewing as a viewer.
Pops had friends that were deep in the coke game.
****** was seeing beaucoup loot in Flatbush, BedStuy, Southside, Rosedale and all them places

NYC was straight trife back in the days
NYC subways was gritty
These kids these days is soft and would not survive a day on 80s-90s NY streets.
These little soft booty boys would **** their pants if a ***** with gold teeth even looked their way, god.
For all those people saying Queens is soft, DO YA HISTORY HOMEWORK
it aint called Cop Killa Queens for nothing, B
Queens is where 1800-COP-SHOT billboards first popped up
There was a shootout at Sunrise Cinemas at Green Acres Mall when Godfather 3 dropped on Christmas, my G. **** was serious back then...****** was bucking

Brooklyn ****** was BUCKING HARD too...Them decepticons was wilding on the trains..
Hell, even in the 90s when LB fam was bucking along with deceps, **** was getting serious then too
Brooklyn was known as BUCKTOWN....cus ****** would stay bucking.

regardless how soft the youth get, NYC will still reign supreme

The only thing that gets under my skin is this crazy gentrification. We got wild Europeans crawling into BedStuy trynna turn that **** into something its not. They tryna get rid of the culture.

My mother lived in the South Bronx during the crack era. Father moved in and followed her soon after.

I'm more than happy that I had NO PART in the **** that went on.

This sounds like one of those overly long skits on mid 90s hip hop albums

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE

some corrupt pd
wall street

crowd
rising price.....
competition

I gotta sit with my dad and have him tell me stories about the 70s and 80s. He was running wild throwing jams in abandoned buildings and **** back then apparently, but every time he would get into a story I used to just tune out.

Walking down the street with him in the Bronx today, some people still stop him and say 'hey, superstar!' (that apparently is what he went by back then ).

No way I want to live through that era, though.

My father told me they used to drag kegs up the steps of abandoned factories and just party there. Crazy to imagine that in Manhattan today.

It's really mindblowing to think about now. He said they'd connect an extension cord to the light poles for the electricity.

Just party and drink all night and the cops wouldn't shut them down.

Man you can save that era. Instead of making stories in the era we're given, people look back to yesteryears and wish.

Put that work in with what God gave you. Nah mean.

Realness. Repped.

I'm saying tho.

These rose-tinted nostalgia goggles never did anyone good
