Local car wash should hire you if you say it's to learn the responsibility of working and earning your own money

You guys are brutal. He said he's 14.

At the end of the day, it's just not your time to get into the shoe thing right now if you parents aren't on board.

At 14 you can't legally work but you could maybe learn a legal hustle. When I was your age, I was selling penny candy for a nickel or a dime. I think it was a dime. I put some shoes I wanted on layaway and paid like $8 per day from my candy profits. The store I used to go to would allow 10% off for being a B student so that paid off also.

Some of yall being to harsh on shorty but at 14 u cant really do but so much feel me. u can mow lawns n wash cars n stuff. Just dont start doing ILLEGAL stuff like some of my friends did. Not even worth it. Ask your parents if they can setup a ebay for u, my bro used to buy n sell stuff on ebay alot back in the day. was a decent side hustle to i must say

oh and def sell candy n such in school. i remember this girl in my class used to do it and i remember she told me she was making at least 100 a day. Most adults aint making that. let alone on a good day she would do 130 160. my older brother did it in high school and he used to make money too. he used his cash to buy starter hats n coats n sneakers n what not.

Seriously, wth. :smh:

Well when I was your age, the folks were still kind enough to give me lunch money every other school day, but instead of spending it, I'd save it. I would just bring some snacks from home, or just free load off my friends lol. I saved a good $25-30 almost every week, and I remember purchasing my first pair of js using that money. Cool grey 4s, I'll never forget. :smokin

Flash forward a year later, and I already had my first job. All I needed was permission from my parents and a work permit form school. Part-time only but hey, I was finally making my own money.

So I suggest you save all the money your parents give you and go from there. Not too long from now, you can get your own job like I did.

If you really want to get into the shoe game, save your money up and work as hard as you can to get a pair of Yeezy's at retail. Once you sell those you should be able to have enough money for any pair of shoes you want, unless its another pair of Yeezy's.

Yea I remember people having they parents go to Sams Club and BJ's and get them big bags of candy and bust heads for a dollar a pop. Teachers started complaining cause no one was going to them high priced vending machines and school stores LOL.

This is the exact way I earned the $60 I needed for my very first pair of J's in ninth grade (moms would only shell out half the $120 the Infrared VI's were going for).  Taught me the value of a buck and how hard you had to work to get it!

Babysitting is how is made my cash when I was 14. My neighbors were a young couple 24 - 25 and they hung out EVERY weekend. They kept me paid up all though high school. On a serious note Just don't do anything illegal or anything that will take time away from your studies. Your education should be your top priority right now.

The rules vary depending upon the particular age of the minor and the particular job involved. As a general rule, the FLSA sets 14 years of age as the minimum age for employment, and limits the number of hours worked by minors under the age of 16.

Now that you mention it
OP could have it set up so he pays half on his shoes and his parents pay the other half.

Also I could work for my parents (my dad owns a restaurant) be a busboy or what not. Thanks

THIS was the ultimate hustle in high school. Especially because after my freshman year the vending machines were integrated with the bell schedule and only operated before school, between classes, and after school. The only loophole was lunchtime cuz there were 5 different bells (one for each lunch).

Folks were basically buying stock of candy bars chips honey buns etc from sams club. Flipping em before and during classes for a dollar.

This was in 03-05 so that box of honey buns was like $3-4 max and selling for a buck a piece was easy money. Candy bars for sure you get a bunch in a box for under $10.

Damn 14. You were born when I started lurking in these forums.

Keep your kick game simple. Don't start collecting, you have your whole life to collect things. Wear the hell out of them joints. As young kids should.

When I was 14, before I got a job I was buying kicks with birthday money, graduation money, good grades money, $5 here and $10 there. My parents would only buy me a new pair for the new school year and it had better be on discount too if they were paying full price. When the Jordan 13s first came out, my folks paid half and the other half had to come out of my pockets. They could've paid in full, but they were teaching me about expenditures and being responsible. So they say. I only had the budget for 1 pair a year back then because I was into other things as well, like video games and buying CDs etc.

Man I used to hustle candy and top pops in high school like no other. used to hit sams and buy the dumb big bag of gummies and make a killing. But when I used to get the top pops 3 for a $1 and sometimes 4 for a $1 when they were on sale is when I really came up. I was copping shoes almost every week with my own money and I wore the hell outta each pair I got wasn't really worried about collecting at that age since I was going to school everyday I always wanted to stay fresh.

At this point with where the prices of jordans are at your better off finding other brands and sneakers that are cheaper imo cuz at 14 spending $200 a pop you won't have any money to anything else with and that new pair of jays ain't worth being broke and not enjoying ya childhood fam.

Keep your mind in school broski, but needless to say go talk to your folks what you can do to make money. Ask friends if they have ideas, be creative there are many ways to make money just don't let it obstruct your vision at the end of the day. Like Pac said keep your head up!

Yeah working @ your parent's place is a real good idea. Busboy is a great first job. I remember when I was 14 I worked at a hotel cleaning the tennis courts. It was hard work but I was able to buy my own things and there his nothing better than working hard for something and then finally getting it. If you get stuff handed to you it will never mean as much , as it does to work for it. Good luck man!
