Thoughts on the Scarface Remake??? Vol. Balls & My Word

I honestly think that a new Scarface would be better as a miniseries.

my thing is lose the title. Its not even going to be the same story lol, only thing in common it will have is the main characters first thing will be Tony.

But like I said earlier. There are already two classics with the name Scarface.

The fans of the 1983 film can't really be pissed at someone remaking a remake with the same name.

That's exactly how the 1983 came about.

The best they can hope for is that those involved don't drop the ball on this

Saw it like 10 years ago, thought it was meh. Can't even remember what the hell happened in it.

-Too be honest I have never seen 1983 Scarface all the way through. I've seen the film multiple times but always in like 30 minute chunks, never in order.

Damb thing is nearly 3 hours :x

IMO a lot of movies should be franchises anyway. Kind of like Bond. If the story is good, why not keep adding to it? Reboots and remakes are a waste of time.

But isn't the Scarface from the 30s about the al capone? He was called Scarface too actually

I thought the 30s movie was about like the Italian mob. If memory is correct then it's too diff from the 80s movie

Scarface don't need to get a remake again. Leave it alone and come with with something original Hollywood!! >:

I got a feeling that the younger generation doesn't see Scarface (1983) in the same light as some of us older cats. It can be tough for older cinema to translate into a modern era. Scarface (1983) will ALWAYS be classic for me. Soooo many quotables. I am somewhat excited for a fresh take on the idea though. Various scripts have been floating around for like the last 20 years, the Mexican cartel angle could be interesting. Anyone else remember when Cuban Link was supposed to star as the "son of Tony" in a legit DePalma sequel?

Scarface always was overrated. Thanks to rappers everybody acts like its the greatest thing ever. Godfather>

On the real,
A movie needs to be made on 80s-90s NY crack era
Base it on all the drug teams of NY, and all the big kingpins...supreme, pappy mason, fat cat etc

Do what they did with Frank Lucas in American Gangster...Have Denzel play Supreme. The streets need that, B

Oliver Stone's best film, and Pacino's best performance imo.

In the great words of Roger Ebert
In the final sequence, he has a pile of cocaine on his desk and plunges his nose into it as if trying to inhale life itself. Pacino plays part of that scene with white powder stuck to his nose. The detail is often parodied, but it is a correct acting choice, showing a man who has become heedless of everything except his need. If Pacino goes over the top in "Scarface," and he does, that's because the character leads him there; over the top is where Tony Montana lives.
But to save the stretched out paragraph in which I would probably be talking to myself, I simply don't want a remake. As good as one might think a remake would be, I assure you it would be horrible. I guess the older I get, the less I want to see re-hashes and start to appreciate that everything had its time.

this.  and the 1983 version his highly overrated

i think the aura that surrounds 1983 Scarface is what makes it enjoyable to many but

the film itself was not that great, and you can't recapture the essence and the feeling that goes with Scarface in a remake today
83 scarface over rated? foh
that's my opinion, i know many don't agree
we've had this discussion at length on here before

May I hear why you didn't like it or think it's overrated?

Between this and Dirty Sprite 2 being announced my world is I'm shambles. What the hell is going on?!

Yes, why hasn't Hollywood tackled this yet?
