Thoughts on the Scarface Remake??? Vol. Balls & My Word

I had never seen Scarface until 2005. I've seen it about 6 times since then. Wouldn't mind a remake if I thought it would actually be good. I just don't know what they'd do to translate and update it. At least it would be a huge gap between updates, u like Spiderman which will probably have ANOTHER update 3 years from now.

On the real,

A movie needs to be made on 80s-90s NY crack era

Base it on all the drug teams of NY, and all the big kingpins...supreme, pappy mason, fat cat etc

Do what they did with Frank Lucas in American Gangster...Have Denzel play Supreme. The streets need that, B

Yes, why hasn't Hollywood tackled this yet?

paid in full b. goat cinema pop

A lot of cats think its over rated. Maybe. I love this movie though. The latino in me loves the rags to riches fairy tale.

Well, it's the second remake, and the first remake isn't even that good a movie.

The thing that should worry you regarding this remake is that it'll be toned down, like all other remakes. They'll slap a PG-13 on it and it'll fail at the box office.

People hating on a remake of a remake ain't **** sacred about scarface 83.

I dig the idea of being a movie thays retold every few decades or so. First Italian immigrant, Cuban exile now a mexican cat running LA. I'm in

I'm more interested in how they plan to make this guy become the kingpin of LA. Like how would that happen? With all of the gangs in LA, plus the prison gangs running ****, where does he get this juice? I could see becoming a "made man", but control the city/region? Nah man.

Will watch.

We need a bmf movie, and a Rayful jawn...

and New Jack City is based more off the Chambers brothers more than it is NYC drug dealers...

Scarface remake.... F NO!
Poltergeist remake..HELL YES!!!

This joint has potential to be better than its predecessor.

Not to thread jack, just a suggestion, maybe we can make this a thread about remakes. Ones that have been done, should be done, shouldn't be done, and the ones that are already in the making.

This joint has potential to be better than its predecessor.

That's what I'm sayin too. The original relied heavily on the special effects available at the time. I think if they stay true to the essence of what makes a movie like Poltergeist scary; this joint should be a solid horror film. Which we haven't had in a while.

people loved Scarface because of the violence and because of the hip-hop aura it gained. it became "cool" to like it and be able to quote it.

i remember liking it for that reason and my friends as well, it became the thing to be able to quote it in the Tony voice :smokin

as i saw it as an adult now though, a Hispanic adult, i wondered what's the big deal after watching it. i couldn't get past noticing how hard everybody was trying to sound Hispanic, talk Spanish. Pacino was terrible with the accent, tough guy and coked up faces he had down but as far as me believing he was Cuban i was disappointed. Manolo was another one, nobody sounds genuinely Hispanic, Frank, never mind Frank

who's gonna be the star of the new one, French Montana ?

leave it alone .....

Random fact; the F word is used in scarface more than any other movie. Moved to 2nd recently by Superbad.
