Lord forgive me bc I did not know...Raekwon classic

It's interesting to see the generarional gap that exists now in hip hop. Like not in a bar way, but it's just interesting.

But yes, this is truly timeless. There's a great quote from a Jay Electronica interview, if I can find it I'll post it. Just basically says how this is like the greatest example of storytelling got coke/drug rap, the story telling, etc...

"...but, the POETRY of it. When you listen to Raekwon and Ghostface, it's like... Fyodor Dostoevsky"

Never got into the Wu like that, very knowledgable of all the classic hit. I always heard it was a crazy album but I never really cared to listen. Was at home friday just messing around the house and decided to give it a spin.
30 why what's up?

WHAT?! I can't wrap my head around how you've just heard this album unless you really didn't listen to hip hop much until recently. I assumed you were younger than the album.

Just IMO, I think this album sits extremely high on the list of must-hear albums for any hip hop listener. Aside from the obvious others like illmatic, the chronic and ready to die, here's my own list of pivotal hip hop albums:

Wu Tang Clan: Enter the 36 Chambers

Raekwon: OB4CL

Mobb Deep: The Infamous

Smif n Wessun: Da Shining

Organized Konfusion: Stress (The Extinction Agenda)

Big L: Lifestyles of the Poor and Dangerous

Common: Resurrection

The Roots: Things Fall Apart

Group Home: Livin' Proof (probably my favorite DJ Premier beats to all be on one album)

I could list/argue others but then it's more like "Here's old hip hop albums I like" vs albums I think everyone should hear to get an idea of those artists at their purest and just some good examples of hip hop at its best. That list could go on for days but these came to mind immediately.

30 years old? Damn my man, that's crazy. Well better late than never.

Doesn't matter when you first listened/discovered this album. The one thing that matters is that you realized it's a classic 20 years after it came out, showing how timeless this album is.

It was hard to make room in the rotation for anything else for like a year & some change after this dropped.

It's crazy that you just found this out. You should probably go check out all of the Clan's individual efforts. Better late than never!

:wow: whaaattttt?!!?!?!!?!? I can't believe you never came across this. I grew up listening to this and we practically the same age. Better late than never fambs :pimp:

chill slim
Whatchu mean "chill slim".  Im thinking of you bruh.  I feel your child hood has been deprived, growing through life and not experiencing the purple tape..? how is this even possible??

Not strolling through high school hallways building the images that the chef cooked up so vivid for your ears.  I remember my G was so futuristic back than boi...I was so arrogant, exuding this like genuine confidence..Verbal intercourse i believe it was track 13 allowed me to put the mack on any broad I wanted..

With that said I hope to bring more classics that you might have missed bro.

I'm new to niketalk, so I don't really know how to use it like that yet but I just had a question about something Raekwon wore. It's a picture of him wearing a wu-wear velour tracksuit, now I don't know when the picture was taken I'm guessing the late 90's to somewhere in the 200's because that's when those tracksuits were most popular but anyway I just wanted to know if anyone could find the tracksuit and see if anyone was selling it. I couldn't find it on eBay or any other site but I know it's put there Imma show the pic too.
can someone let me know if they find someone selling the whole thing
