I found out I'm having a son today, I was pumped.

Then I thought to myself man I don't emm know if I want my kid to like the teams I do.

I plan to taking my little guy to a lot of Mavs and Rangers games and he'll grow up in the Dallas area most likely it will happen by osmosis but the Lions? Naw B, straight pain and suffering for my 30+ years on Earth. I don't think I'm gonna let him root for either the Lions or Cowboys. He gotta pick another team.

So to my dudes with kids. Yall force them to like the same teams?

First off.... congrats my brother! Great news.

Now as far as picking teams goes, I say the tradition has to stay alive.

Nothing like a father/son combo of watching games and attending them. :smokin

My pops didnt force me to be a Colts fan but I wanted to be like my pops so I didnt pick another team. Pops is my role model so I wanted to be like him. Still do actually. Hopefully when my time comes to be a dad, I wish I can be half as good a father as he has been. Dont think I can come close. But I shall try!

You're good people so I am sure your son will be following in your footsteps.

Just dont name him Matthew.

Oh and I assume you will be trading in that Chally for a Grand Cherokee? Lol

Firstly, congrats :pimp:

To answer your question... I keep my son in cowboys gear, he's 2 but when he's older I plan on taking him to games. I'm really hyped about sharing that bond with him..

I like to think he'll naturally be a cowboys fan being exposed to it so much. But if not, that'll be cool.. I'll admit itll disappoint me a Lil, but I think I'll get over it..

Naw man CTS-V Sedan. :smokin

I was thinking about how my two favorite athletes of all time are Calvin Johnson and Dirk Nowtizki and my kid probably won't be able to see either of them or remember them. It will all be stories. :frown:

Don't have any kids and ain't planning on having any time soon (if at all)...but congratulations broski.

*salute*

Congrats on your son

I don't have a problem with a parent wanting their child to like the same team as them

Just be aware that your son can end up having a favorite athlete who plays outside of your city and root for the team they play for....just pray it isn't a garbage team

Mavs', Cowboys, Rangers only teams they must go for at all times.
They can be fans of whatever, but they'll know to root for the home teams before anyone else.
Never thought about it, but I bought my nephew & God son Dez Bryant Jersey, & a bunch of clothes too.
I guess, subliminally I have. They're 2 & 1 years old, while one knows how to say Cowboys and Football it's not that serious yet.

Congrats on the boy, they are fun

Don't push any teams, don't really put him in much team gear. We just watch and go to games, dude loves it and he knows certain teams but I don't think he has favorites at this point

Hockey is his favorite sport to play though and watch, baseball second :smokin

CTS V sedan would be ill. lol

Ahhh bro its a generation thing. There will be someone else to replace them, maybe not to their level but hey.

And btw its awesome hearing stories about previous generation players. Hearing stories about Johnny U, Raymond Berry, Lenny Moore, John Mackey, Bert Jones from pops is awesome :smokin .

And make sure to show the Stafford, Megatron meme 10 years down the road. lol

congrat OP

i swear i just had this conversation with my boys 3 days ago...

my kids will love the Panthers, Duke and Hornets bc they will grow up going to their games.

My son WILL root for the Cowboys.

Id legit be hurt if he didnt. JK, but he'll be decked out in Cowboys gear tho.

Man, congratulations!! :smokin

From the moment he was born, my son had no choice on the Lakers and Angels. He likes them now partially because he is growing up on them, and partially because he associates them to me.

I absolutely love watching our teams with him.

Well, not so much the Lakers these days, but we still have a good time. When he gets excited about a Lakers commercial, I have no problem telling him the Lakers are probably going to lose but we can watch until his bedtime. :\

That is exactly how I became a Raiders fan. Tim Brown was my favorite player as a kid. My dad still finds it funny.

As long as my kids don't root for the University of Washington -- everything else is fine.

**** the Huskies.

I honestly would not care...even if its a rival team.

They will be forewarned though life will be much harder if they choose to root for a rival.

Since we're going that route, there well be no fans of the Cowboys or Yankees in this house.

Take that how you want.

Should he ever, he'd have to leave the gear at the door. Angels hat and jacket? Put those with the rest of the jackets and hats. Oh, you got a Yankees jacket when you were at mommy's? G'on and hang that up somewhere outside.
