Kendrick Lamar IS The GREATEST Rapper Of All Time (Vol. Hear Me Out. LOOOONG read)

Wow what an amazing read. I didn't ever look at the rap game from this perspective, thanks for the enlightenment

ps: Where does J Cole land in your guys' rankings?

J Cole is nowhere in my rankings. He was "Roc Nation's first signed artist" and people hyped him as the next Jay-Z. He's a basic rapper that makes basic music.

J Cole shoulda been much better than what he ended up being. I still like his music but he can be real hit or miss at times

This. He could reach another level if he wouldnt self-produce everything, cause sometimes his beats are filled with NyQuil

For somebody that doesn't make radio songs Cole is doing great. Built a loyal fan base that buys his albums. He exceeded what I thought cuz dude was boring as hell to me for a years. FHD is a great album but that's really his only project I go back and listen to.

Drakes a top notch entertainer and Kendrick not as much. Mac Miller and ab soul are probably better lyricists than drake but drake can make hit song after hit song, which is a ridiculous thing to be able to do.

If y'all arguing lyricism than Kendricks obviously better imo. Drakes more nelly type rap than Nas and Jay Z

Don't disrespect Nelly like that.
Country Grammar »» Drake's whole catalogue.

If you go for commercial records you're probably gonna have more hits than a guy who doesn't.

Cole is bizarro world Drake. From the same planet as bizarro world Rihanna, Rita Ora.

Like mentioned in here from numerous posters, lyricism give it to Kendrick. And even then, it's not Kendrick running laps around Drake, but you give it to Kendrick.

The thread title however mentions GREATEST RAPPER. Do we judge rappers only on lyricism?

This is a great read and honestly if Kendrick's new album on 4/7 is a classic I think you can easily argue he's the greatest ever. He's only 29 and he's only continuing to evolve and mature artistically.

Think about it, how many classic albums do Jay-Z and Nas have? I say 3. How many do Big and Pac got?

Kendrick has 3 classics albums ALREADY. Section 80, Good Kid, TPAB. Add in an amazing project in OD and Kendrick probably already has the best catalog out of any rapper ever in terms of quality.

My personal top 5 all time would be

1. Jay-Z

2. Nas

3. Andre 3000

4. Kendrick Lamar

5. Kanye West

But I think it's very possible he could become the GOAT when it's all said and done. OP hit it right on the head with "Don't become your grandfather". For some reason people can never admit that someone from there era can be surpassed. I'm 25 and I argue with my rapper friends in their late 30's all the time and they will sit there and tell me KRS-One or Big Daddy Kane are the goat and can't help but to laugh.

The fact that you laugh at KRS or Big Daddy Kane being mentioned exposes you.

TPAB was not a classic. Lupe's Tetsuo & Youth was a better version of it. Alright was a classic song though.

TPAB is easily a classic. Every song hits.

Substance is key. Also nobody in the game was rapping over those instrumentals.

TPAB is not a classic though. It's just a knee jerk reaction to put his next album on a pedestal after his actual classic GKMC didn't get the recognition people thought it deserved.

A lot more people know what's up than I thought.

It is a classic, just because a few NTers co-sign that dumbass statement doesn't make it true.
