Official Adidas Derrick Rose Thread - D Rose 11

I'd be interested to hear an update whether the forefoot breaks in because I experience somewhat the same thing with the Ultra Boost but to me it is the big drop between the heel and toe where the forefoot's boost is a bit too thin for me to a point where my forefoot starts to hurt after an hour or so of running.

You wrote that you like that on the shoe though so it might not bother you as much, in running I like there to be less drop from heel to toe but there also aren't any jumping in running so the difference might be there on the cushion preference.
I like the level difference between the two parts of the shoe, however I like to have cushion in the forefoot too. I'll keep you up to date.

How breathable is the upper (compared to Kobe 9 & XX9)? Are you happy with the upper or are you still interested in other uppers like primeknit?

I've heard people complain about having to re-lace these constantly, was containment or lockdown an issue for you?
It's not really breathable but I didnt feel any heat, I think the humidity can escape even if you dont feel the air while walking. I didnt have the need to re-lace the shoe, the lockdown is really good as explained in the part "Material, fit and support:"

Was able to get a pair of the Southside Lux from my local Adidas outlet (Chocago Premium in Aurora) for 60 bucks...just outstanding. This is the first pair that i tried on in my legit size (was able to try on some one size smaller than i prefer and to no surprise they were too small). Boost does feel better this year but at the same time the lack of full length boost is felt on my end because this stable frame feels like **** in comparison to the rest of the shoe. It makes me very intrigued about the drose 7 as that should be a legit full length unlocked boost.

I also went to another mall and try on the BHM Rose 6 and those are so muh better than the southside lux. No break in time.need...step i comfort is top notch. They do not feel as restrictive on my feet...stable frame isnt even noticeable in that pair. That leather is so premo...since i got the lux i couldnt afford to get the bhm's but im pretty positive i will get them next week...the only small minor issue is the leather is closer to brown in color than black.

I really wanted to get the 2nd half away (black mesh) 6. Was excited to check them out this weeknend but they obciously did not release. However i went to Foot Action and they actually had the home (red mesh) pair available for sale. Very strange. I hope the black version releases on 2/05 or sooner.

Foot action as in the one at woodfield mall? I didn't even know they carried adidas

I actually misspoke. It was not foot action. It was either finish line or athletes foot (can't remember which...just know it was across from the footlocker) and it was not at woodfield it was at Louis Joliet.

Ah okay. I'm interested in picking up the new home editions but hadn't heard of them being spotted at retail yet. Hoping I find them around here soon.

I just came on here to post that as well. Received the email from footlocker.

Not digging the colorway but I love primeknit, so they're an easy purchase for me.

Got the white DRose 6 for playing and the shoes are pretty comfortable right off the bat. Still haven't played in them but I think there's some missed opportunities in the shoes.

I think the shoe could have been way lighter. Like those metal-esque eyelets, don't really need it. They look nice but I feel it is unnecessary performance-wise. The same with the straps in the back, it does provide lockdown (though I think it could be achieved the same lockdown without it but it's also a style choice and the signature look on the shoes so it feels like it has to be there?) but I feel like it could be executed better, it makes the shoe bulkier than it should (I got a 9.5 - my usual size - and it looks like I am wearing a size 11, shoe doesn't look and feel like a shoe made for a point guard). And I also go back to weight, that plastic piece that connects the back with his logo seems unnecessary. They could easily shed 2-3 ounces just with little alterations to those two things. Just looking up the weight on the shoe, I found this review and it states that the DRose 6 is actually an ounce heavier than the Lebron 13s (http://schwollo.com/2015/10/30/adidas-drose-rose-6-performance-review/) so that is saying a lot.

So far that is my initial disappointment, if the shoe performs well enough then it might not even matter but I am still bummed about the overall execution and how they could have done weight reduction. Traction feels crazy sticky though, was sticking like glue on the hardwood floors in my home when I tried them so can't wait to try it out on the court.

I dont feel them really heavy, plus the weight of a shoe compared to the weight of a body and his strength is negligible.

Let's be completly honest. Can you actually tell the difference between 1-2 ounces ? If so exactly how much slower does it make you? Serious question cause I see weight mentioned a lot and really the only shoes I have ever felt were heavy were older bron or shoes that have a super sloppy fit

I could definitely feel it when I switch up shoes between games, it won't make you slower or affect your vertical (something you may not be able to measure just by playing) but your legs could get tired faster.

Maybe it's because I run and a couple of ounces in a running shoe matters and makes a difference and could definitely be felt but there is a reason they try to use synthetic materials as light as possible because it does make some difference.

In the end, if you only play in the same shoe all day everyday then yeah I guess you will adapt to it and might not even notice. But once I switch up, the difference is definitely there, for me at least.

And as you said, the heaviest you've felt the difference is the older Lebrons and the newer ones might be lighter (definitely looks bulkier though) but these shouldn't be weighing more than any Lebrons. But just in comparison (base on the link I posted) the DRose6 weigh 17oz, Lebron 13s weight 16oz and the Curry 2s are at 14oz. Kobes are around 10oz-11oz depending on the model, give an ounce or two because that reviewer had a size 11 and I think most models default weight comes from a size 9. But to me, that 5-7 ounce difference is big.

In the end though, the shoe is a keeper for all the other factors (cushioning, traction, etc...) I am just saying the shoe could be improved by getting rid some of the unnecessary aesthetics like those lacelets, it really provides nothing and the shoe would still look the same without it. Hell the primeknit version doesn't have it and that lacing system with it probably provides a better lockdown. Which is the other gripe with the DRose 6, different materials in almost every colorway change can give you different performance.

I like the 7s,but the placement of the 3 stripes at the front seems off. I know, it's not the finish product, but so far it looks like "we need to put the 3 stripes somewhere. O, there's space here, let's put it here." Lol. O well, let's wait and see for the final product.

Like how nike puts a swoosh on almost every shoe in that place lol

Maybe adidas is like hey it worked for nike why not?

how durable were the adizero 1.0 and 1.5? Pairs on ebay arent cheap so just wondering if theyre worth the price.

Mine last about 3 years playing regularly indoor, until the insole crumbles. Surprisingly the glue can hold up.

Most of my regular playing shoes last about 3 years actually (except for my rose 4.5), but the one that started to fail usually the glue.

which d rose or what recent shoe has the closest feel to those? Always wanted them but they're never around for a decent price

I think in general every rose shoes is base on lower to the ground and low cushion.

I had rose 1-4.5 (haven't try 5 and 6 yet) and everything has about the same feeling in the cushioning part. Rose 1 is probably the lowest cushion of all though, and the closest recent shoes I can think of is Wall 1.

You could go with Jordan Melo M11 too as it is lower to the ground shoes, but with different tech it is totally different feeling.

I don't really remember the upper part feeling of Rose 1 anymore, but I always buy shoes that have the snug feeling. So any Rose shouldn't make much different.

5 and 6 are the opposite. a ton of cushion and not really low to the ground.

the 5 is pretty low to the ground in the forefoot imo but the heel cushion is thick. The 6's cushion is thick overall

I love the 6 so much!! I finished my training 2 hours ago, I did a gigantic change of direction with a lot of pression to steal a ball and the traction sticked to the floor perfectly! By the way I did get the ball.

The forefoot boost is breking in pretty well and it feels awesome!

I did tried 5 once at the store, it is still thicker compare to 4.5 but not good enough if I consider using boost. It feels more like juice up adiprene+

I cannot feel the boost very much.

So I definitely interested to try the 6, it's just a matter of me finding the time to go shopping. The nearest Adidas store to my house only sell running shoes.

I am not in a hurry though, still have plenty of shoes to burn.
