 who is jay fooling? Find it hella convenient that homie all of a sudden stands for something other than a dollar only when he stands to make himself even more dollars. Make your moves do you, but don't campaign under the guise that you actually give two ***** when in reality only another dollar is what you truly care about.

What do you mean all of the sudden? or what does all of the sudden mean?

Hov been pouring out dollars into the community for years, just cause he don't rap about it doesn't mean he hasn't stood for causes.

Why do people say this?

If certain rappers do one thing, they receive adulation for it. They can remain silent for the rest of the year if not years.

If Jay visits Freddie Gray's parents, he's doing it for attention.

Yet still, everything that happens everyone wants to know Jay-Z and Obama's opinion on it. Like he became anything other than a rapper, and became Malcolm X, because he has money.

That show was phenomenal. It was amazing hearing some of my favorite low key, b-side records from Jay. Seeing him and Beans hug was also pretty dope. Quiet as it's kept Beans was almost out of here last year. Life is so short it's good to see two people with such history not quarrel on something so trivial.

This was July. At A Trayvon Martin rally with his wife and Trayvon's family. Don't think this was a publicity stunt and he certainly didn't get any money for this. This was long before Tidal was announced. While he may not be @Deray out here with boots on the ground at every rally you can't say that he's never stood for nothing. If you don't agree with the pricing of Tidal or the service in general or even the rich getting richer in a climate where wealth is already unevenly distributed say that then (In part I actually agree) but don't stone the man just because he's a capitalist. We know he's been that his entire career.
That was him rapping "I spend Japan yen, attend major events"[/] Plus it's not like he just started doing charity and philanthropic work.

He can never do enough

I wish people would hold themselves to the same standards they hold these celebs

Can't rep that enough. Really it comes down to jealousy, racism (even against our own kind), confusion, and overall negative energy. Can't tear dude down for continuing to be a titan just because you don't like the way he does it.

I seen Jay three times and one of my biggest complaints was the same ******* 20 songs he would do every damn time. It sucks that he couldn't do this before on tour but now only doing it to get people to pay for a bogus app.

It is interesting that people get upset when companies do these kinds of things. It's just another form of marketing, they are all businesses and trying to sell a product. Apple has The iTunes festival Which you have to watch through itunes or any of your apple devices, Jay doing the bsides show is no different. It's just a cool perk you get for signing up for the service, don't even have to buy the subscription to watch. So while yes it is him doing something for a company he is a part of to get people to buy, but its no different then the millions other companies spend to market their products.

I stand corrected then. Only thing I knew about was that bringing water to Africa venture years ago. I also haven't heard him speak on social issues then again I'm not an avid Jay listener. Nobody is mad at the man making money, I've stated my position on Tidal in here already. I just felt that it would be hella tacky to speak on social issues on this particular platform if you had a history of skating around them.

I swear to God, if Tidal was owned by eminen they would be no Tidal hate, but because is owned by Jay Z and backed up by the most popular black artist, everybody wants to throw shade at it. I used tidal, and I love it, the sound quality of that Jay Z MTV unplugged is amazing.
If I was Jay, I would also stream old music related movies (Belly, Paid In Full, Volume 1...etc)

i was just about to say this. i cant remember the last time i heard him publicly speak on any of those issues in the black community like this. those bars are clearly song-worthy but he don't really rap like that at all anymore. suddenly, at this promo concert, hes back on his conscious s***. whatever. jay aint rap, say, or tweet a damn word for anything he mentioned during those bars... he sure jumped out to defend tidal tho. yall got it tho

show me a pic with the family dont make me feel anything. jay has a VOICE and he knows he does. he makes things irrelevant and relevant with a couple sentences. you see what he chooses to use it on. its simple as that. more power to him. tidal is still a bad idea for the consumer. but as long as he can find people dumb enough to pay for it... more power to him

The concert was pretty good and you didn't need a Tidal subscription to watch it. I think my favorite parts were when he brought out State Property and Young Jeezy. Part 2 is tonight at 8pm central time. Don't know if I will watch because of the Billboard Awards.

Nah this app could be run by 2pac, literally gives me no reason to use it over Spotify. This is simply business, why should consumers who many are struggling to make it care about the royalties multi millionaires are complain about? And even with indy artist, the real money is in shows which is why most rap acts now just give you free tapes but tour the country because their fans will go to the show.

Tidal has less music than Spotify AND cost more, what logical sense does it make to switch?

Your reasoning makes perfect sense, im talking about people on here bashing Jay just because society don't want to allow a black man to be successful on his own.

_ if Tidal was owned by Eminem half of y'all wouldn't even be in here defending it like that

Like I said before if he would've centered this around smaller indie artists he would've got a way different reception
