Tips to avoid drowsiness while driving?

Once pulled over for a power nap around sundown on the I 10 at a VALERO GAS STATION.... Woke up around midnight, and the town looked deserted ... the GAS STATION HAD CLOSED....

SAFE TO SAY THAT scared the ish out of me & WOKE ME UP

WHY WAS THE GAS STATION OPEN WITH THE LIGHTS ON BUT NOONE WAS INSIDE....

& why was a truck following me out of the town with no lights on???

i usually try and get a iced green tea lemonade in me from starbucks...nothing beats adrenaline, but that only happens when u do doze off for a couple seconds and catch urself drifting. that feeling causes a rush, and generally nullifies the spector of sleep...

loud music can help, drinking water...

im gonna try the shoe thing...

Dunno, my brain just...snaps awake whenever I have to drive anywhere, no matter how tired I am.

All it takes is a millisecond for you to end up in a grave, or worse, put someone else in one because of your carelessness.

Some of ya'll need to just take a nap and drive when you're mentally and physically able.

Damn she must have mixed some alc and drugs.

lost a homeboy in a car accident where its believed he fell asleep.

I strongly suggest yall pull over somewhere safe and sleep. The pain of his loss on his fam (myself included) was ROUGH

You know that feeling while you are driving and it starts feeling that you havent slept in days. Of course taking a nap before hitting the road is best but that isnt always possible.

I travel to surrounding towns/cities at night to promo at clubs. What are some things/tips that helped you avoid that sleepiness while on the road?

What worked for me, was loud music and AC on blast.

The longest trip that I've done a few times is New Orleans to San Diego. I did it once in 27 hours. I was in tip top shape at the time (6 years ago) and did it on 5 hour energies. I bought a couple of boxes and said **** it. Only stopping for gas. :x Tried to do that **** again a couple of years ago and it took me 3 days. :smh: And I was in good shape then, just older and not up to it. I just stopped whenever I felt myself nodding off and got a hotel room.

Back in the early 2000s, I drove from VA to OH a few times and yellow jackets were the fuel. I wouldn't recommend those now though. That **** was like being on coke or something. Straight up.

Then one time I drove from New Orleans to VA and :x :x :x I had no sleep and it was a quick turn around. I ended up zoning out once and woke up still on the freeway. Scared the **** outta me. Made that one in like 30 something hours. I stopped at an outlet somewhere in South Carolina and got Nautica'd up.

My girl keeps talm bout driving cross country now and I think those days are behind me.

Cliffs: 5 hour energy

In order:
1) Rolling down the window
2) Slapping myself (srs)
3) Rapping to music

If all else fails, I'll pull over at some public place during operating hours & take a 30 minute nap.

I'm definitely trying the shoe idea next time, though

Nothing works, I've tried everything, you will fall asleep and not even know you fell asleep if you're tired enough. I've fell asleep behind the wheel once. Crashed into the sidewall on the freeway :smh:

Now if im sleepy I will just pull over and sleep. Not worth it tryna make it

Buy some blazing hot wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and then put some more hot sauce on it. Every time you feel drowsy take a bite of a wing and you'll stay awake.
