It's not like it mattered. Whitley was never getting out of the 5th inning anyway.

not looking good at all lately :smh: :smh: :smh:

Cashman's gotta start thinking about making moves or calling up prospects

CC did aight today, not bad at all. Chase won the game for us though. Big time HR, we needed that.

MY MAN ALEX :smokin :smokin :smokin

Very good outing by CC. Only 1 inning of trouble, but without much damage.

7IP, 6H, 0 BB, 1ER, 5Ks. Can't ask for much more than that from him.

In 8 Starts he's been decent enough for a back end rotation guy. The reason we are so frustrated with him, is because we remember Dominant CC and this isn't him. This is old, you don't know what you have from start to start.

He's had 4 good starts.
Last night.
May 11th - 7IP, 6H, 2BB, 4R, 3ER, 9Ks. He was dealing through 6 innings only had 3 Hits, 1 ER, 7Ks. Then he hit a wall. Gave up 2 HRs, then a SAC Fly which wasn't his fault because Cabrera moved to 3rd on a Chris Young error. So realistically, he should have left with 3 ERs. We had an 8-1 lead going into the 7th, so while he struggled, we had a big enough lead that just limping through the 7th was fine.
May 1st - 6IP, 7H, 2BB, 2ER, 3Ks. Got the no decision.
April 20th - 8IP, 7H, 2BB, 2ER, 5Ks. Got the loss.

Ok Starts
April 14 - 7IP, 7H, 1BB, 4ER, 7Ks. Lost 4 to 3. It's not great, but it could have been much worse. He had a 1.14 WHIP for the game, pretty good by back end starter standards, just a bit of unluckiness. Combination of only 1 run for him in the 7IP, and small innings put up by B'More.

Bad Starts
May 6 - 6.1IP, 9H, 2BB, 4ER, 4Ks.
April 25- 5IP, 9H, 0BB, 7ER, 2Ks
April 9 - 5.2 IP, 8H, 5R, 4ER, 8Ks.

Don't get me wrong, the drop off from dominant CC is infuriating, and I hate seeing his name come up for Today's Starters because it's more likely than not a loss at this point, but we need to lower expectations for him. He's not Ace CC. He's not workhorse CC that will throw 120 pitches per start, and get you 7IP every 5 days. Or that guy that will blow a fastball by you, and get at least 1 K per inning. He's a 4th or 5th starter now. And we have to expect what we'd expect of Adam Warren or Chase Whitley from CC.

Biggest problems is HRs. He's given up 8 in 8 starts. Needs a bit more control on his slider. Gets too flat too often.

If we could get 70% great to decent starts, and 30% bad starts over the course of the season. That's really all we can ask for from a guy his age, and where he is situated in the rotation.
