In the past 10 they've been fine..

Have to remember they are limiting Tanaka's pitches.

Tanaka went 6IP, 5H, 1BB, 3ER, 3Ks.. Win 13-3
Severino 5IP, 2H, 0BB, 1ER, 7Ks.... Team couldn't hit Steven Wright.
CC 6IP, 3H, 3BB, 1ER, 8Ks.. Win 2-1
Eovaldi 6.1IP, 5H, 2BB, 1ER, 3K.. Loss 2-1
Nova 5.1IP, 4H, 2BB, 4ER, 6Ks... Loss 6-0.. Girardi left Nova in a couple batters too long, we couldn't hit Price.
Tanaka 6.0IP, 3H, 0BB, 2ER, 5Ks.. Loss 2-0
Severino 6.0IP, 7H, 1BB, 2ER, 2Ks.. Loss 5-4 in extras
CC.. 6IP, 9H, 2BB, 2ERs, 2Ks...Loss 2-1
Eovaldi... 5.1IP, 7H, 3BB, 4ER, 4Ks.. Win 8-6
Nova.. 7.0IP, 5H, 1BB, 3ER, 3K.. Win 4-3

With the exception of Eovaldi's Indians start a couple days ago and 1 bad Pitch by Nova against the Blue Jays last weekend, everybody has had solid to great starts.

There's a couple reasons why we haven't gotten to 7 IP..

1. Tanaka is limited around 80 pitches, for whatever reason.
2. We've been taking a lot of pitched to get guys out.

absolute gem from Tanaka

needed this W
Yup. Also some rest for the bullpen. Don't even recall a complete game for the Yankees this season beside for Pineda's one CG.

one of the biggest games of the year & he comes through with a complete game gem :pimp:

saw him show some emotion on the mound after a big strikeout today. never seen him do that  :pimp:

Murphy had him fired up for the 9th. Tanaka looked amped when they hugged to post-game.

speaking of JR he's played his role perfectly this season

we don't really lose anything except power when McCann needs a day off

Great series so far.

We needed a bounce back like this after getting washed in Yankee stadium last time.

Let's get the sweep tomorrow.

Who we play this coming week?

3 vs Twins
4 vs. Indians

Twins have the least amount of Road Wins in the AL. Also facing Gibson, Pelfrey & Santana. Two of the three have been awful on the road.
Indians are one of the best road teams in the AL.

So if we can take the final game against the Jays, take all of the twins games, and 2 of 4 versus the Indians. We'll be back in good shape.

Then it's Astros (mediocre road team), Braves & Soxs who stink

Murphy is another reason in my list why we should look to move Sanchez, either for a big name, or for minor leaguers in other areas.

I like Sanchez, but McCann, Teixeira prevent him from being anything here for a while. And there are other places we lack that we could use in the minors for Sanchez.

McCann is a top 2 or 3 offensive catcher in baseball. He also calls a good game.

He also hasn't shown the signs of being on the downside. Sure his BA & OBP are both down around 30 points from his career average. But that can easily be explained by the shift. 30 points on his BA is 9 hits in 90 games, he's definitely lost a good amount due to the shift. He still strikes out at about the same rate per # of At Bats that he did in 2010.

We still have 4 more years of McCann. We can reasonably expect at least 2, likely 3 years of that we will have an above average hitter.

John Ryan Murphy doesn't have really any power, but calls a good game, and hits for average, his slash line last year is within a few points on BA & OBP. Slugging is up 20 points this year. So it's reasonable to think that he's a 280s hitter, 315-330 OBP. And at worst is an average fielder as a backup. We have 2 more years of Team Control, and 3 years of Arbitration on Murphy.

So unless McCann is not here in the next 3 years, the best we get out of Sanchez is a backup catcher, and a Starter maybe at 26. Sanchez can hit the ball well, and he can gun down runners. But his ability to call a game, his maturity, and his defense have all been huge question marks. A lot of people believe that Sanchez may not even be an everyday catcher and is instead a First Baseman. Which then puts Greg Bird, or Aaron Judge if it's too crowded in the outfield in front of him.

His 20/80 ratings according to MiLB.com is Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 60 | Run: 30 | Arm: 70 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50

On the other hand, we have Luis Torrens, who turned 19 in May in the system. He was supposed to start his climb, but a torn labrum ended his season. Anyway, Torrens hits for just as much contact, maybe a 10-15 Homerun guy as opposed to Sanchez being around 20 Home runs. Has a good arm, can field, calls a much better game. Seen as a legit catcher.

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 35 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45

Wouldn't be upset if they kept Sanchez. I just think McCann, Murphy & Torrens gives you an ability to move Sanchez for a minor leaguer who is as good but in a different position.

Gametime :smokin

Ellsbury gets it crackin :smokin

just thinking, being that the season is winding down and we got a shot at the post season, could Beltran have broke out the playoff Superman under garments ? :D
