I also never saw Danny look as a deadly weapon at all, again maybe it's the choreography though it's likely the actor, his movements just didn't feel real and as I've said it before, when he does his meditations or chi-recharge, he looks so awkward like he is some noob doing P90X for the first time.

And I think it is bad how it was done because they were showing him beating mostly everyone but it still didn't look convincing and really he only used the Iron Fist a handful of times and the one time they were suppose to look impressive (that punch to the ground) it looked very underwhelming.

I also know it's a cliché but I still hated it that Harold could all of a sudden get the upper hand on him and all of a sudden getting him easily when before he would dance around other attacks.

I think this was my biggest problem of the whole series.

Also didn't like the Hand, they felt a lot less threatening.

Agreed on the Harold part. I was wondering why he was getting washed by Harold at the end when he plowed through the Hatchet Men with ease (word to Jason Statham).

The choreography and fighting had so much potential with the different fighting styles (Hatchen Men, Scythe, Bride of Nine Spiders fighting scene, Drunken Master, Davos) but the choreography and training of the actors felt super weak. I'm glad I 'm not the only one who thought that. They definitely could have done a way better job. Personally, I think the actor playing Davos would make a better Iron Fist capability wise.

If you wanna get critical about the last fight, what I really hated was that at one point Danny had actually disarmed Harold. He kicked Harold in the chest and got the gun flying out of Harold's hands and everything. Then Danny ran away to play some more hide and go seek. They extended the 'fight' for another 3-4 minutes. The Howard vs Danny fight was goofy because it should have been light work for Danny. However, DD struggled with King Pin one v one and that should have been easy too right?

Nah Harold still had the gun in his hand after he kicked him the first time. He disarmed him in the second encounter.

Nope. Watch the fight again. The gun fell on the ground and everything but Danny just ran away to hide some more.

Go. Go to the 37 minute mark of the last episode and tell me how that made sense. Danny had him and ran away like a girl

I just did Harold is still holding onto the gun, but whatever it's not that important.

that confused the hell out of me too, one more kick and Harold would be done but instead runs away

Nah, DD thought it was an easy one but Kingpin proved he had power and could fight, dude is always being underestimate as just some fat slow dude but you saw how brutal he could be. Plus DD was beaten up through the whole series, he was already dilapidated by that fight so he had taken some damage. DD was winning that fight but Kingpin could just walkthrough some of those hits, DD didn't have super strength so he isn't going to knock dude out.

Danny on the hand didn't really sustain much damage outside of getting stabbed in the torso which didn't really bother him much later on and getting shot in the hand by Harold but Harold wasn't really a fighter. Yeah he showed he was getting somewhat stringer when he broke the punching bag but Danny still kicking everyone else's a** that had way, way more training than Harold.

And even if Harold was still holding that gun, one of those spinning flip kicks he does so much would have KO'd Harold easily, no need to run in that instance. Dude was taking out DEA agents and Hand members with fully automatic rifles.

Lol huh. You even see that Harold is prone and there's no gun in his hand.

*edit

OK he's prone with the gun in his hand, but still, Danny had the guy prone. The iron fist is in close combat quarters with a guy who doesn't really fight. No reason to run away.

It really should've been game over at that point. It will never make sense to me.

That's the kind of stuff that should've been avoided if the director thought it over.

Director: Now would one of the best martial artists in existence run away when he has one gunman read to rights at that point? Would that make logical sense? Naaaaa. Let's do this over.

too lazy to go back and rewatch but iirc Harold was on his hand and knees face down too so a quick elbow to the back of the head would have finished it, no need to run like he was doing the GetOutChallenge

Stuff like that annoys me. To me it just shows that the director either doesn't care, or didn't think things through

I wonder if Finn Jones even thought to protest on some : 'Uhh my character has Harold prone and dead to rights. Why do I run away?'

THIS!!! I was like WTF?!?! Danny knocked him down and disarmed him for a second and then decided to just take off running like he just set a bag of poop on fire on someone's doorstep.

Y'all ***** just nitpicking a final fight when you know why it was extended.

Finished. The show wasn't bad. How can the other Netflix Marvel shows get better reviews? This was about the same level of quality as the others. The fighting definitely improved as the season progressed.
Me too.

I feel ppl are reaching with the criticisms on Finn as Danny, the acting, the story. All of that got better as the season went on.

So either they're extra hard on this for some reason or they were exaggerating the greatness for the other shows.
Is Davos working with Gao now or was she following him? :nerd:
Think she was just following him.

The way Davos is so rigid and strict (even though he probably doesn't want to be as much) he would not twam-up with the Hand.

That's fair I was just giving Danny the benefit of the doubt since he was still holding onto a gun.

Naa I can't give him no benefit of the doubt. In earlier episodes he was taking out multiple gunmen without blinking. Dudes who are certainly better fighters than Harold.

nah, I came in this with an open-mind and really got my interest in the first few episode but it went downhill from there

Finns acting just didn't work, his line delivery was almost the same throughout and it didn't help that they made the character so whiny

fighting definitely got better but it was still not very good for the most part

some of the liberties they took on this show felt very Fox/Singer-ish,

-we want to see KunLun, they show no signs of it
-we want kungfu action with ninjas and we get corporate hand instead
-we want more IronFist the Immortal Weapon and we see Danny being Stark in IM3
-we want to see the costume and we get some janky-a** chest tatoo (and they could learn from WBTV and get someone who is actually ripped  )

I didn't have a problem with most of the fighting. As much as some ppl bad mouthed the fighting, I was expecting worse. Actually whenever it involved fighting multiple ppl at the same time it was good.

What annoyed me is that sometimes in one to one fights with inferior fighters IF takes longer than he should to finish him off... Like when he was fighting that one dude in the truck who was watching the chemist. The fight was way too prolonged for a single henchman and his incompetence got the chemist hurt.

Its like the show picks and chooses when Danny is this great fighter for plot convenience sake. I can't rock with that.

I just realized that Bakuto is the same dude from Transformers Revenge of the Fallen who plays Sam's roommate/friend

Just found out that The Defenders is going to be 8 episodes....Should have made IF and LC shorter and made The Defenders longer.

8eps? That's weak. I need a solid 13 like the rest of em. I hope for the shorter season we get more action, all characters have been developed so I don't need to see any of that. Show the homie Luke comin home from doin that bid, gettin some of that homegrown Rosario java, then crackin skulls.

Agreedm but I greatly minded the fighting. I saw tons of issues with the choreography. In terms of fighting skill, I couldn't buy the fact that Sir Loras Tyrell was the Iron Fist and I desperately tried to. I think if they spent more time and budget on training the actors and working on a solid fight choreography, then I could get past the weak plot and storyline, like I did with Ip Man 3. Again, the fight scenes and combinations of fighting styles had so much potential but none of the scenes were that compelling and the fighting did not look authentic. Even his chi meditation didn't look authentic.

The Iron Fist wasn't justified in this first season. He's supposed to be the the BEST, a master of his craft. Looks like a childish noob here.

in the last episode when Claire blew up the hotdog stand and she was being chased, I was expecting her to be trapped in an alley and about to get shot when Luke steps in and takes that bullet

Don't mind Loras being a skinny dude, a lot of martial artists I know in real life look frail. I won't use that as a reason for miscasting.

However, as others have mentioned, dude is supposed to be the greatest fighter (or at least one of them) on earth, right? I NEVER got that feeling at any point of the show, and that's what caused me to not like the show as much. I'd say this is a 30% casting and 70% writing issue; he didn't move like a trained fighter at all, and he was constantly struggling against no-name villains. When a blind hero that spends most of his time as a lawyer is more convincing as a deadly fighter than someone who has trained 24/7 for 15 years, you know there's a problem.

I didn't hate the show and thought it was an OK time killer, but yeah, it could've been a lot better.

I don't either and that isn't really what I judge it as miscasting but at the end of the day, it is a show based on a comic book character that id drawn to be ripped and I want someone built like Bruce Lee than some dude who looked like CM Punk.

Either way, dude could have gained some muscle and definition for the role, once he got the part, he should have lived in the gym.
