I think that is also another point, he also constantly bragged that he earned his skills and that he trained hard for it, for years. The story would have made more sense if they made it seem like he was an outsider chosen to save them and given the IF power despite not being the best.

only way the story makes sense to me, is if they kinda 'kung fu panda'-ed it.. where the IF is chosen just based solely upon a prophecy.. and dude was still in the process of learning everything and no where near a true master of anything

but that would be super duper weak

they could have done it as a prequel of sorts where it is before DDS1 so he could have comeback to KunLun and practice more. Then again they'd have to change a lot like Claire not training with Colleen or knowing about LC and all that stuff

nah, I came in this with an open-mind and really got my interest in the first few episode but it went downhill from there

Finns acting just didn't work, his line delivery was almost the same throughout and it didn't help that they made the character so whiny

fighting definitely got better but it was still not very good for the most part

some of the liberties they took on this show felt very Fox/Singer-ish,

-we want to see KunLun, they show no signs of it
-we want kungfu action with ninjas and we get corporate hand instead
-we want more IronFist the Immortal Weapon and we see Danny being Stark in IM3
-we want to see the costume and we get some janky-a** chest tatoo (and they could learn from WBTV and get someone who is actually ripped  )
I get not feeling Finn. I'm fine with him but if you not you just not.

If this was Shang-Chi I would get the want of more action but it's not. Its Iron Fist, the corporate world comes with dude being a billionaire. Its baked in from his origins. Plus any kung fu action with him are with other warriors from the 7 heavenly cities not ninjas. They mad that whole sworn enemy of the Hand **** up just cuz Netflix wanted this to Be a tighter shared universe. Now maybe it's not a story everyone would love but you can't be surprised or disappointed when that gets focus.

I honestly didn't know "we" as Ted to see K'un L'un. I know what that place looks like. Nothing special. At best it would be depicted like it's still stuck in the past. So the entire look would be like a period piece.

The costume complaint is straight bull ****. DD didn't put on his costume until the end of s1 and it didn't look good in the face. LC doesn't even do his costume, they made his character in to the average Joe fight in w/e attire. IF does not have some iconic must see costume. Dude is Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat adjacent at best.

What gets me is his costume is gonna end up looking no better than what the 1940s IF had on in that old video.

good, that's the costume everyone wants to see, in any costume

hell he could have had the same black bandana DD had in S1 and speaking of that...

they gave DD a costume and the whole all black hooded look was a nod to the books and in the end we see him in actual costume

with Luke we got to see a classic nod to his gear with the tiara and they somewhat gave him his classic look with the regular yellow tee which he rocks with

but you focused on what we wanted to see and that was a suggestion, there are far more complaints about the show besides those points

and you can't be giving the excuse that just cuz the village is going to look old school so they didn't give us that and that action is limited to heavenly cities so they didn't use ninjas in the show, come on now

if you're going to give those type of reasons or pass to this show as "writers decided to do this" then you can do that to any movies/shows other don't like

you just can't say "if this was so and so then there's be more action" like IF isn't tied to kungfu and action and why we get no ninjas going against him

and yes why can't I be disappointed with the parts they chose to focus on? other studios doesn't get that benefit of a doubt, you can't tell me that we can't be mad because Fox decided to focus on Mystique as a mutant savior just because it isn't a story we love or expected

oh damn, didn't even know I replied to zik... I raise the white flag... I ain't got the energy for the upcoming dissertation

Show isn't 14% bad, but it's dull and uninspired.

correct me if I'm wrong..

but even without the IF, dude should be a better fighter than daredevil.. but then daredevil has his enhanced senses

Yea that's what I was assuming to. Like even without his chi at full force he should be washing dudes with the mastery of Ip Man in the Ip Man movies.
Like everyone's straight beneath him. Like when Bruce Lee was trying to kick Ip Man's cigarette and he was avoiding his kicks sitting down, all casual like. I wanted to see mother effing swag while he fights lol

So basically yall are saying the IF is the Neo of the MU? I don't really know anything about him but the show isn't as terrible as some are making it sound.

I'm not overly critical when it comes to shows like this though.

He's supposed to be the best hand to hand martial artist in the Marvel Universe (comic and probably MCU). The show runners went another direction with the character in that he left K'un L'un prematurely and was finding his legs still (err, hands). I personally think they should have followed comic origin, but meh.

They could always go the Bruce Banner route and replace Finn Jones with a different actor for season 2 LOL. If Ryan Phillipe was a few years younger, he would have made a good Danny Rand. He was a pretty solid actor. They look similar in some ways.

If we going this route with you making excuses for why you aint complain about DD or LC, I can easily say they showed the old IF to nod to the comics and what's to come.

but you focused on what we wanted to see and that was a suggestion, there are far more complaints about the show besides those points
No. I didn't choose to do on anything. I didn't say I was giving reasons or countering every complaint. I quoted your post with those specific complaints I took issue with. The costume stuff, the we wanted to see K'un L'un, the complaint about the corporate world being focused on when that's half of the character's status quo.

and you can't be giving the excuse that just cuz the village is going to look old school so they didn't give us that and that action is limited to heavenly cities so they didn't use ninjas in the show, come on now
No that's not my excuse. That's a fact. I have no doubt we'll eventually go to K'un L'un and see it. I'm saying there's nothing important to see. This aint Wakanda (unless they choose to vastly change everything and amp it up).

I really didn't come in to this thinking oh can't wait to see Danny in K'un L'un training with the Thunderer.

You look at the comics, K'un L'un might as well be anywhere in southeast Asia circa the 17th century.

if you're going to give those type of reasons or pass to this show as "writers decided to do this" then you can do that to any movies/shows other don't like
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. I never replied with writers decided finding his and that's the end of discussion.

you just can't say "if this was so and so then there's be more action" like IF isn't tied to kungfu and action and why we get no ninjas going against him
Yes I can. I'm not even making it up. Shang Chi in a series would be filled with a bunch of kung fu action. You specifically complained about the corporate world focus as if that's not a part of the character's world. That's the whole catch with Danny Rand. A man caught between two worlds.

Complaining about the corporate world focus would be like complaining why weren't there more armors in the first Iron Man what was with all that business stuff with Stane and Pepper? It just reads ridiculous.

and yes why can't I be disappointed with the parts they chose to focus on?
Cuz when it's a part of the character's makeup it's stupid.

Would you complain about the doctor/hospital parts in Dr. Strange cuz he use to be a surgeon?

Would you complain about focus on Peter being in HS instead of him fighting crime 24/7?

Did you complain about the focus on Murdoch's cases and being a lawyer in DD?

It really seems some came in to this with their own expectations based on little or no prior info about IF and then got mad when they didn't get what they thought.

If anything, Marvel actually brought back the dual identity thing that was so popular in the comics when secret idenetites mattered especially since it doesn't in the MCU. They gave us Danny as IF dealing with Hand **** and the triad and then they gave us Danny Rand the dude trying to do good as a businessman.

And again please somebody at least peel his origins. Danny has to deal with the corporate world cuz I'm the comics he's straight up seeking revenge on Harold Meachum cuz he knows he left his parents to die. So there's no avoiding something so integral to the character's essence.

other studios doesn't get that benefit of a doubt, you can't tell me that we can't be mad because Fox decided to focus on Mystique as a mutant savior just because it isn't a story we love or expected
Well first off those other studios suck donkey balls.

Second off look at the poor comparison you're making. Mystique as a mutant savior or ******* stupid mutant Harriet Tubman does not exist anywhere but in Singer's and Kinberg's heads.

You're comparing that to Danny Rand trying to live up to his father's legacy by re-entering the family business and dealing with issues regarding Rand enterprises (nevermind that the Hand been infiltrated Rand so the two were tied together from the jump) THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF IRON FIST COMICS.

It doesn't make sense.

No. He's not but he's a better fighter than DD. Definitely not no ******* Neo, some of these dudes lying and never read an IF comiczxnv

While he is the Iron Fist it's not really clear Danny is a master of anything.

Low key, Shang Chi is the greatest martial artist in the MU. They say it all the time. He just doesn't get the shine like he use to and FTR Danny only gets more shine cuz he teamed up with Luke. On his own it's only so much more shine.

No he's not.

Shang Chi is called the Master of Kung Fu.

Danny is up there but nah he's not better than Shang.

I remember when it was just announced Ryan was one of my favs to be IF. Age was the only thing I thought was going against him too.

Thing is they go and cast Copter as Luke and he's 40. Finn's 28. Ryan is 42. Not sure he auditioned.

Bruh you were literally complaining about something that's a part of the character's status quo as if they just made it up.

No way I wasn't replying to that nonsense.

Besides instead of calling it, you should've double checked who you were quoting :wow:k

At this point anyone who can embody someone who trained at a monastery well would be appreciated. Dudes who played Davos and Bakura did a better job of embodying that personality than Finn Jones did. Idk about Ryan Philippe lol.. Even the younger version.

If you were just looking for acts like he grew up in a monastery by monks, that's not Danny Rand.

He's not gonna act like that. Its not his personality.

I implore some of yall to at least read the Brubaker & Fraction Immortal Iron Fist series to get a better grasp of the character.

Doesn't seem like the showrunners was going for the kind of Danny Rand depicted in your post, Zik, just based off of the lines on the show he was given.

I already said they didn't and described what I thought it was. If anything that would be the goal to what Danny becomes.

This is basically an Iron Fist Year One situation given the obvious changes (adding the Hand so heavily). He's earned the mantle of Iron Fist but his training is not complete. 15 years of training does not make you a master. If that were true damn near every person that trained to be the next IF would be a master of kung fu. That's just dumb. In this telling of his origin he dipped on K'un L'un after beating the dragon, this Danny is younger and has a lot of trauma that is being dealt with differently and for show purposes interferes with his ability.

I made that post cuz some of yall just made up your own expectations of the character that are baseless and it's actually due to not knowing anything about the character which I find odd.

should have just mad him Asian and avoided the headaches.
I don't get you with this

Making him Asian gonna solve all these complaints.

You kept going on and on about this issue before even one ep was out and now any criticisms about the show has little to nothing to do with Finn Jones being white

Being Asian aint some shield from what ppl don't like.

But maybe there should be a poll :nerd: Is some other Asian actor gonna make ppl love the writing?

I know the character sucks.
Can't really separate him from Matt or Luke.

Can they have Blade show up and kill him and be part of the defenders instead? Would be lit.

Making him Asian would've been worse. I'd hate him even more and kick him out of our race. Golden brother card rejected.

an asain dude going back to look into his and finding out about this mystical power is an actually interesting and fresh story vs the white savoir/billionaire playboy superhero thing that's been done to death.
