2015-2016 San Antonio Spurs Thread: Tim Duncan Retires After 19 Seasons

Man I'm just proud to be in the playoffs for the 18th year in a row and to the most successful franchise since Jordans retirement
I say this all the time and people act like its some foreign concept. I've gotten to watch a ton of successful basketball from my favourite team. They've more than satisfied me as a fan for the time that I have been watching them. Not every fanbase is this fortunate and I totally get that.

Yep

Pretty much no NBA franchise has had sustained success like the Spurs have over that period of time

Free agent blunders, tanking, superstars leaving or staying too long, bad ownership, multiple bad coaches, hoping for ping pong balls

The Spurs have been blessed to avoid that over that period

Over the last 15 years, the Spurs have absolutely been the premier example of how a franchise sustains greatness. No question.

Seems like there's a lot of local Spurs fan panicking already after Game 1. It's like every year people forget this is a 7 game series. Yeah it's not how you'd want to start the series, but the Spurs were definitely not at the top of their game and the Clippers just took advantage.

I'd like to see the adjustment made on defending Blake Griffin though.

True, I'm disappointed that we lost but our shooting was off in Game 1.

Depending on how well we play on Wednesday, I might start worrying then.

Start Patty Mills on Friday!!!!!! Ive been kind of hard on him these last few weeks but he just shut me up for the foreseeable future. That man brought it tonight, he and Tim Duncan put the team on their backs.

They didnt go to Kawhi enough in the fourth, he was rolling through the first three quarters too.

As far as I'm concerned the Hack A Jordan worked, at one point it got Jordan out of the game, and it slowed down the Clippers' momentum tremendously.

Ugly game though it was really ugly. We'll play better at home, and people will start making some wide open threes. Danny especially.

Patty might not be consistent, but man is he clutch! He's always come up huge for us in the playoffs.

Yeah, I was hoping for Kawhi to take over a little, especially when Duncan started getting cold late in the 4th.

Hack a Jordan definitely worked, but I think it killed our offensive flow too.

Timmy is the man. What a game.

, from Gary Neal to this guy, cant ask for more than that. He really came through for us

In the playoff thread someone posted a stat that said we didnt score once in the half court set after hack a Jordan so if he made the second one and we had to take the ball out, zero points were gained, and they got a offensive rebound 19% of the time. Even though all that I still think it works.

Wonder when we're going to hear about Parker, I dont think he should play at all on Friday, take the extended rest until Sunday

Congratulations to Kawhi Leonard, theres no question he's the best wing defender in the league, none.

Didnt expect Tim Duncan to finish so low, he had us on his back for a good chunk of the season and was my mid season pick to win the award.

In regards to the game, I just love watching Duncan play at this level. I honestly feel like he's been better these past two years than he was for a couple years prior. I can't think of another player recently that has played at such a high level this late in their career. Patty Mills is my dude and I agree that he needs to start next game, especially if Parker is not 100%. I feel like Mills and Joseph can get us through this series, mainly because the Clippers aren't that deep, but we'll need a healthy Parker to make another deep run. I liked the adjustment made on defending Blake Griffin or the better effort at least; it looked like they were rotating early to prevent the clear lane and forced the Clippers to kick it out and we'll settle with them hitting shots rather than these alley-oops and dunks through a wide open lane.

In regards to Kawhi, :pimp: x 10000000

This guy is something else and the DPOY award is well deserved. The scary thing about Kawhi is that he's still so young and we don't even need him to be our #1 option right now :x
He's nowhere near his prime and he's only going to get better. I don't want to speak blasphemy, but I see glimpses of Jordan when he's out there; from his fadeaway, to his post game, to his jumper off the dribble. I know he watched tape of Jordan over the off season and to me, it's been showing.

This series is far from over and we have to take care of home court now.

Anyone going to the games Friday or Sunday :nerd:

Oh yea definitely agreed on the first part. This Tim Duncan 2010-2012 Tim Duncan no question cant see anyone whos been following this team saying otherwise. What he's doing right now is nothing short of insane

We aren't going to win the series unless Manu or Parker play better

We need another role player to play better because cant expect Duncan to do this all series

I think a big factor to help us win this series is if Danny Green starts hitting his shots. If we can get him rolling, it changes everything.

Hopefully being at home will help him get back on track.
Bro you and me both. I'm not even expecting much out of Parker at this point, Danny Green has to be the guy.

Kawhi finally got over the 30 point mark

, new career high out here.

Great game on all fronts, Boris Diaw got us rolling he was making all the plays for us in the first.

So glad to see them lean on Kawhi so much out the gate in the third, he wants the touches, even though he wont say it out loud. He deserves them for that matter.

Shots finally started falling and messed up the Clippers scheme they had to honor the shooters and we got so many drivers for great shots. We also figured out their defense, I saw Boris Diaw in the post so much holding the ball just to disrupt the Blake and DeAndre paint defense. They didnt make one correct switch on Diaw and he was just killing them with the passing.

More of the same is coming Sunday.
