New HBO series "Ballers" starring The Rock

I know it's been mentioned before but,

The greatest disservice HBO has done was not making this an hour long show.
semi srs.

Ps. I don't want watch TV dramas or series.

Nope half hour for this type of show which is funny, entertaining, T*ts & a*s most of the time is more than enough. Just like how Entourage and How To Make It In America were also.

This isn't the type of HBO produced show like: The Sopranos, The Newsroom, The Wire, etc.. that dealt with serious issues or had a plot & storyline that needed a hour.

Again, shows like these don't work in hour-long formats. They are meant to be only a half hour. Also, they barely have enough content to fill that half hour (look at all the griping in this thread about how the show is repetitive and doesn't move along lol). If you want an hour-long show, then the number of episodes would be cut in half. In the end, you're getting the same product. just deal with it.

Anderson never wanted Spencer around now he's ready to hand him the throne? Nah, man. If I'm Spencer I'm rolling with Joe knowing he's down to do whatever it takes to come out on top.

This show stays with the funny liners though.

"That's a $400k ring!"
"Kobe got his wife for $4million!"
"He makes more than me!"

One of the best lines of the episode.

I have a tuff time acknowledging the consensus that shows like the wire and newsroom need to be an hour because they are dramas and deal with serious issues.

This show has low-brow entertainment but isn't that way more relatable and fun for an hour than the rest? With an hour there most certainly will be a format change with the pacing of shows but it could have been done. Especially with the amount of characters you have in the series. Let's be real here shows are just people talking after all, and I know people like hearing about football than political issues.

Anyway the only thing you risk is some weak episodes here and there like all ther rest, but like the rest there still would be important set up and moments. I guess there would be problems when episodes with dudes who can't act like Vernon, but the cast is solid.

Right now I don't think they are flushing out issues bc of time restriction and that is why ppl might think there are "repetitive" moments.

Idk again maybe this is bc I don't watch many of these episodics, but I would rather watch this for an hour than people run from zombies the rest of their life.

They're already risking weak episodes in the half-hour format lol. Remember Entourage? Dudes on here wanted an hour-long show, but at the same time were whining about how nothing was happening and that they ran out of ideas. You can't have it both ways. Just accept the half-hour format. It's how television writing works. Honestly, a show like Ballers might benefit from a 40-minute block, not a not half hour. But that's not how it works.

Dan Ballsamo throwing out the pitch was clutch!
Hitting The camera man though

Abraham must have had flashbacks to The Walking Dead and thought the camera man was Eugene.

Anyone else is getting the feeling that Reggie is going to use his version of the cocaine pictures to extort his cousin?

show kinda wack bruh. like..its a cool, chill watch. fast cars and *******. but....where is it actually going? what the main story line right now? What is the plot? I'm beginning not to care anymore.

Yeah I enjoy the show but these episodes move the plot at a snail's pace and I didn't mind it at first but this is the penultimate episode and I feel like this half hour finale is going to leave a lot of **** unsettled.

Idk why you guys watch this show expecting some high end storytelling - I personally take it for what it's worth. Nice little half hour comedic escape, and honestly has been a highlight to my Sunday nights/Monday mornings this summer.

This last episode was great, Dan Ballsamo finally got his moment in front of the crowd had me in my feels yo

Why did he throw it at the cameraman though? Then why did the crowd go from booing to cheering?

I thought he just had a horrible throw, the crowd booed him, then he had his **** it reaction and threw his hands up and went nuts and the crowd saw that and started cheering too.
