Had this discussion with coworkers...

The kid is obviously set for life but I find it's selfish to have a kid at 65 years old (66 when the kid is born) knowing the kid must likely will have a dad for a limited amount of time in their life. I know that can be the case for a lot of kids but this is a bit more controllable.

Thoughts?

I can't say its something I would shoot for at that age.....but life is life.

You just gotta live, there's kids who have parents who die at young age all the time as sad as it is. Congrats to him.

If you have money, you have options. Plus his girl is young.

Side note, man.......Billy Joel has a good track record. He's no Derick Jeter but he's done well considering:

Elle Macpherson:

Christie Brinkley:

And now the new chick:

More proof that men shouldn't fear the aging process.

There's no biological clock ticking on our end. The only issue would be being able to play with your kid at a certain age, but other than that it shouldn't be an issue.

that'd be sad to me, probably why I think it's selfish

can't imagine having a boy and he wants to go throw the football around and I am 80 years old

I understand that too. If I were to have kids, I don't think I'd wait until I was 65.

Billy Joel is a favorite of mine.

I'm trying to be biased when I say this but I think in his situation it's okay. He has a younger wife, he's very well off financially, especially if he is still crashing his car onto peoples property.

I think the child will be good.

Given his situation...it's okay by me, but I can see how it can seem selfish...not letting your child have an extended life with you, cuz you might die earlier than need be.

Live and let live.

This is why after a certain age menopause will become a prerequisite for me.

Can shoot up the club without having to worry about becoming a daddy.

Gonna be in the old folks home just wiling out like Pete's gumpa

To look at it in a glass is half full perspective, at least the kid will get to grow up with his dad where as some kids don't even have a dad or even grow up in divorced families where you only see them half of the time.

And to look at it from a half empty perspective, the girlfriend just got set for life. I just hope if Billy Joel does marry this girl that he at least signs a prenup.

I agree with OP.

I don't think it is cool to bring a child into this world knowing YOU won't be there for them much longer.

Yea the kid might end up fine, but I don't see the point of birthing a child on borrowed time.

That is me.

But it is his life.

he looks like a creep. i wouldnt let my kids sleep over dare. he proally has arthritic knees. dude proally has a viagra patch, all day long, all day strong. to da window to da wall, till da sweat drops down my wrinkled ...

At 65? It sounds so crazy saying something like that. But I can't really knock him for it. I keep hearing humans are living longer, this is a result of it. He was probably too  busy chasing his dreams at 30-50. Decided to do have one when he was good and ready so shout to him.

SN: This man has hits on top of hits. I used to jam to him as a kid and not even know it was him

With modern medicine and a will to live, Billy Joel will be alive for another 25 years. The kid is financially set and his Mom is young - nothing wrong with the situation.

A lot of kids out there don't have Dad's - pretty sure those kids would take an incredibly rich/talented Dad that will be around until their mid-20's...

Lol modern medicine.

Modern medicine couldn't save a lot of extremely wealthy folks who are younger than Billy Joel.

Cancer, ALS, MS, heart disease, etc, etc etc. As you get older the greater the likelihood of one befalling with one of these ailments and ultimately there ain't a God damned thing modern medicine can do to save your life.

Tell you that first hand partner, I have lost too many people in my life to be that naive, older, younger, no matter.

And lets not even mention alzheimers and dementia.

This is false.

I have to agree. My ex boss which was this old black guy. Had some young girl trying to mess with him at work. Me and my coworker would ask why he doesn't get at that and he said it's because he's "broken". I am sure it's not always an age thing but it can be sometimes.

ive heard crazier stories than a 65 year old getting someone pregnant, but me thinks this was probably from some frozen sperm or something...either way, mozeltov

We'll have a cure for some cancer within the next 10 years...... :nerd:

FOH b, don't even want to hear such whimsical nonsense. Miss me with all that. When it happens, great. 'Til then I'm not living in fool's paradise.

Just makes me more angry when I think about how big pharma profits so much off chemo and how they lobby against the legalization and fund research slandering MMJ.

******* medical industry is a joke and a hoax.
