By not conveying our 2nd round pick to the Magic... It no longer goes to them in the future. So Dwight was traded for Andrew Bynum & 2017 1st Round Pick. Failed miserably for us, but we traded far less in that deal than Cavs traded for Love.

Final Trade: Andrew Bynum, Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga, 2017 1st Round Pick (1-5 protected in 2017 & 2018) for Dwight Howard, Earl Clark, Chris Duhon

While it failed miserably, we didn't lose anything of value to the Magic. Sure that 1st has value, but by 2017, we'll be at worse late lottery, and if it jumps it's ours still.

Draft Express Currently has us taking (they haven't factored in Team Needs yet):

4. D'Angelo Russell
27. R.J. Hunter
34. Timothe Luwau (SG from France turns 20 in a couple of weeks. Scouting report is a 3 & D guy off the bench basically)

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson going 24, Caris LeVert 25.

Still think that we need to consolidate the 27 & 34 into one pick.

Guys who are guaranteed back: Kobe Bryant, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Tarik Black (makes 4)
Guys likely back, but if there is a trade offer they like, could deal them: Nick Young, Ryan Kelly (makes 6)
Guys under contract, but if need be could be let go: Robert Sacre, Jabari Brown (that makes 8 players)

Throw in 3 draft picks, and we have 11 players under contract.

If we wanted to sign 2 Free Agents, we have to cut somebody Or designate them to the DLeague. In the case of Luwau, probably stash him in France for a year.

If we trade up to 22-23 with the Bulls or Blazers, both of which gain tremendously because they don't own their second round picks. Move back 4-5 spots to technically move up 19-20 in the second round is a good deal.

And gives us an extra $600K to spend in Free Agency

Then we can go Towns or Okafor in the Top 2, Mudiay or Russell 3-4, WCS or Winslow at 5.

Then go either LeVert, RHJ, Hunter at 22 or 23.

And have two spots to fill at $23.9mil in cap space. And ability to open up about $400K more if we cut Sacre or Brown.

I wouldn'd mind trading one of those later picks for an established vet on a two to three year deal. Provided said player's salary isn't more than $4-5 million.

But Mitch and co. probably won't do it because they want to preserve cap room until July.

Lost the Clippers second because it ended up being #56.

Watching the celtics in the playoffs makes me sick and knowing they have like 10 first round picks coming up still

They in the east B. And they still have to turn those into a star or hit the home run on one of them.

Recency bias has gotten me on the Justise Winslow hypetrain.
Not really recency bias. There were people high on him back in November. People liked him over Stanley Johnson from what I read. A lot of people dismissed it, but I remember reading great things about Winslow since the beginning of the college basketball season.

Nothing new, but his stock did rise because of the tournament. I did see Winslow high on people's personal mock drafts on other sites.

I remember I said winslow over Johnson E mocked me or said no way

Stanley Johnson is another Wes Johnson imho

Winslow was in the 6-10 range for a majority of the season, but has helped himself so much to the point that he could be #2 behind Towns on my personal board.
What day do we actually find out the order of the draft??
May 19th.

Weren't you big on Stanley Johnson?

Not really, Ive said a few times I prefer trading the pick them getting him. Winslow looks like a defensive harden. Probably won't be as great on the offensive end as harden is , bit will hold his own

I specifically remember seeing you want him over Russell. I'm not really big on Johnson.

D Angelo? Nah I've said happy if we get towns russell or winslow. Ultimately I'll take anyone as long as we keep the pick.

I dunno how well Russell and clarkson would play together... But it could work depending on what we do in free agency and how Kobe responds.

I need to see more on Winslow. From what I remember dude was nice but not really that athletic or has great size for his position.

Towns please draft gods.

Kal I will mock you forever. don't think I did for Justise? Could be wrong though.

As for Stan versus Winslow. Winslow was late lottery coming in to the season. Stanley was 6-7 at the beginning except for Chad Ford who also thought Looney would go 6th

For the most part of the season Stanley played better than Justise. And it showed in mock drafts as he was often ahead and even in Chad Ford's.

Stanley wasn't as effective in Championship month like Justise was. So Justise moved ahead even for me.

But Justise has only been ahead of Stanley for a month or so.

Still Winslow is 5th, I have Stanley 6th.

MKG is "Defensive Player of Year" good.

Edit:

Offensively, both are pretty similar in the way they get their points. They are pretty good at rebounding and starting a break, but I think Winslow is shiftier whereas MKG is of straight line driver. Both can overpower defenders on the low block. Winslow is much further along shooting the ball. Both are good passers too.
