KAT just did an interview on ESPN right now. man this kid is special, seriously bummed we wont be getting him. :frown:

They are doing an interview with Oakfor now...sound just like tim duncan. I don't know if we are really losing here.

Noticing a common theme here...no one wants any $$ vets. I remember when there was some durant talk and some of ya'll were saying hell no b/c of his foot. What if the warriors did that with curry's ankles?

I'm down with doing whatever it takes to bring boogie in, including randle and clarkson, if we also get the #6. Let's not forget how insanely talented he is.

He's got some screws loose in his head but so did metta. He's intense about the game, which is better than being a distraction off the court. Being with a winning culture (yes, we still have a winning culture) and having Kobe there to help him channel that intensity properly can make him a top 5 player in this league by season's end.

People are fine with boogie the player.
People don't wanna throw away 2 young kids with LOADS of potential on cost controlled contracts for a max player.

Boogie is 24 & 12
Randle and Okafor can easily be 30 & 15 a night and cheaper

I only want Cousins if he's coming along with #6. Anything else? No deal.

If you trade everything for Boogie.. He's your franchise player..

And no thank you to that. No.

The entire weight of the franchise rests on his shoulders. I pass on that.

It all comes down to laker management being dellusional once more. From dwight and nash to melo and now to these dudes tryna give away randle and number 2 for cousins

Kobe will not stay healthy all season. Do they not get that through their thick skulls?

Can they even afford love and rondo after the cousins trade?

I don't see it that way. Boogie makes ~15 mil this year and for the next 3 years. Randle + Okafor would be making ~8 mil combined. Cap is going to explode, so you have $15 mil tied up in the best  C in the game, and you go sign 2 $30 mill max players. Those 2 guys are your franchise players.

If randle or okafor don't pan out, then half of their cheap value is gone. Also, you have 2 players putting up numbers that Boogie puts up almost single handily . Put an 8 mil player next to him, say Taj Gibson, and you get 35 and 20 AND  the most dominant defensive front court in the game. That alone makes the extra $ worth it, because okafor and randle will never be better than avg defensively.

And if ypu dont sign two max players then what?

Cousins isnt exactly lebron frickin james. Players arent lining up to play with his big baby huey butt

Then you still have the best C in the game on an excellent contract and #6 still. The franchise still has major pull. I think players care more about the situation they're going into rather than the personalities on the team. They don't have to be friends...they are coworkers. *see kobe and shaq

That was 15 years ago.

Nowadays these guys wanna be buddy buddy. I don't like it but it comes with the AAU of it all

And no one wants to be buddy buddy with cousins.

too much to give up for cousins...

I say we roll with these young kids and give them a chance...

cap will be at 90 mil next time, thats 2 max players and maybe some good vets... future looks good so
lets not give all our assets away for one person with mental question marks... it wouldnt even be a lateral move, more like a setback.

It's great that the cap is going up. Which makes it even MORE deadly to have multiple young pieces, still cheap as can be so that you then spend all that cap space to fill in around them.

Imagine a world where Okafor/Randle/Clarkson/#27 are the damn roles players, and the cap space signees are our "core" :nerd:

You do that by having the young, cheap, flexibility and not a 15-16 million dollar contract, no matter how good Boogie may or may not be.

Whats crazy to me is..

If we were sitting at 3,4,5 etc... We would be crying for Jah, but now we are at #2 to take him, yall want someone else.. LA cannot afford to eff this pick up.. At least i hope not..

That's true, but we do have enough cap for 'buddies' to sign together. I just see too many teams in this league roll with their young guys and end up sucking forever (sixers, wolves, pistons, magic, hornets, cavs, the list goes on). There is no Anthony Davis in this draft. No Kobe. No Tim Duncan. No Lebron. Those are the guys who win chips. Rarely do you end up with something like Golden State or OKC.

As long as you get #6 as well, you give up the whole roster and every asset for Boogie. Jerry West did it for Shaq. Mitch should do it for Cousins. That's the Lakers way. You only draft a promising rookie unless you already have one of the most dominant players in the league to pair him with (Magic-Kareem, Kobe-Shaq, even Bynum-Kobe).

I'm so sick of people bringing up the damn 76ers, or Wolves, or Magic. DO WE HAVE THEIR POCKETBOOKS???????????????????????

NO. We have the LA Lakers market, brand, and pockets. Stop comparing us to those small market teams, it's beyond stupid.

They draft and draft and draft, because they can't afford to go out and buy talent. They in Minnesota. And Milwaukee. And Detroit. Of course no one wanna go there. We in L freaking A.

We can, and will buy talent, AND supplement that talent with draft picks.

And miss me with there is no Kobe in the draft. Like you had any idea who Kobe Bryant was the night before the 96 draft. :rolleyes

What exactly are we blowing up for Cousins? All we really lose is Jah, Randle, Clarkson, and we still get the #6 back. I like Cousins, Winslow, and wait for Westbrook much better.

Wow this might be the realist post I've seen in awhile

Russ in TWO years, and we have ZERO reason to believe that the Kings would give us BOTH Boogie and #6.

But yeah, "all" we lose is the 3 picks we tanked for two years for. That's all.
