Seriously the more I saw & read up on Oakfor the more I think he's going to have a career like Elton Brand.

Decent and he will have a couple seasons where he makes all star teams. Then slowly fade away and out of the league.

Do people forget EB ruptured his Achilles in his prime and carried the clips to game 7 in the second round against the best team in the league?
 
First time posting in this thread.

Just wanna say I was either way with okafor and Russell. But the more I think about the more excited I am.

The fact that there is more big men available in FA vs guards makes me feel better about the Russell pick. Plus the thought of him and Clarkson both 6'5" guys as our guards gets me giddy.

If we can lure DeAndre or LaMarcus or Monroe I think we have a great chance to make playoffs
 
Get Robert Upshaw on the Summer League team and get him on the training camp roster

Low low risk.. High Potential Reward for a 5th Big

Like I said Elton Brand was an allstar but clearly not a superstar.

Did he ever make it to first or second team all NBA in his career.

Another similarity between him & Oakfor. Great scoring big men coming out of Duke but never neither known as good or great defensive bigs.

Brand was a pretty good defender, not elite but good.
 
Good Draft picks. It's funny how a good few months can change everything. Even if we don't get a big time big this year in fa we have a solid youth foundation. I also have a feeling that tarik black is gonna improve immensely.

I get how guys like Essential are worried and have doubts about the front office (Mitch & Jim Buss) ability to land free agents this summer.

Because of what happened last summer and previous years in free agency. Also the whole joke of the Dwight Howard saga 2 summers ago.

But really though we all knew deep down that Melo was a serious long shot last summer and was staying with the Knicks and taking more money.

Lebron we tried but he was even more of a long shot and really had slim to no chance at getting him.

This summer though in free agency. I just have a feeling we have a better chance getting Aldridge, DJ, or Marc Gasol.

The team is in a better position with young assets, the cap space.

One of these bigs will be coming here to the Lakers.

Edit-- I know with the squad we have at the moment doesn't make us title contenders, but good lord this thread has been :x the past couple of seasons
