1. He's a short contract.
2. He's signed with money leftover from a big signing. So under $10mil.

I'm reading that Ding piece as to mean Rondo's an option but almost as a last resort and only at the right price, which is encouraging. Hopefully they keep that line of thinking.

I dig the Laker stance on Rondo. I was afraid they'd overpay for him, but if they can get him for cheap and on a short contract, it shouldn't be too bad. He might even be the perfect fall guy to show Byron the door.
