Just stop talking about off the court ****.

Put it all on basketball.

Wasn't the best pitch by Kobe. But at least it was basketball and not hey look at our TV channel.

What's wrong with what Bean said?

How many rings does Pau have?

How many elbow jumpers did he get with Bean?

These dudes are charmin ultra. They want a ring but don't really want to win a ring.

Dawg, Kobe was like 30 when we got Gasol. Now he's 37 and coming off of injuries. You don't tell a dude that's in his prime that you're gonna be my sidekick even though I'm old as hell. I love Kobe but that's crazy.

'I'm going to be 37 this season, haven't played a full season in years......but take a backseat to me, youngin'. You're my sidekick.'

:rolleyes

They have nothing to sell from a basketball perspective other than potential. Why would a 30-31 year old bank on potential. Sure you can argue the Lakers future looks better than the Spurs future, but he wants to win now. He's gotten out of the first round once.

This was expected, but you have to take a shot at a guy of Aldridge's caliber.

the TWC curse continues ...

word life lmaooo we got all that dough from the tv deal and we cant give the money away to save our lives. got people in the mail room blowing their noses with hundred dollar bills. TWC lunch room tables covered in 50s being used as coasters for coffee mugs.

As excited as we are about the youngsters, the basketball side of the Lakers is still a tough sell to star free agents. I can't really blame the Lakers for trying to sell the glamour (as stupid as it is).

Kobe though  talking like he's still in his prime

Kobe thinks free agents are going to remember Pau from 2009 and 2010.

Nah, they remember how it crashed and burned.

This is where all the "Black Swan" and "Put your big boy pants on" bites him and the Lakers back in the ***.

It isn't even on Kobe, they bringing in Kobe because they haven't done their due dilligence. You have teams like the Rockets trotting out analytics and impressive presentations. You have the Spurs bringing in their HOF Coach and players who have taken a huge paycut just to play with him. Then you have Lakers bringing in ******* TV People talking about TV Shows.

Then you throw Kobe in there who isn't a salesman, he's a basketball player, and you expect him to woo and wow these players. Kobe isn't Lebron James, he just came off an interview saying he rather have banners than friends.

This is fully on the Lakers Management, you need to have a plan other than being the first people to talk, talking about the city, and TV Deals.

If you really going to bring anybody to the meeting it should be the young talent, and have them tell them they ready to play in the big time.

Lakers took a step forward with this NEW NBA by drafting Russell, but they still have a lot to learn with the recruitment process.

This is spot on. Nice job.

Iduno maybe I am in the minority but I still believe in the mamba. His knowledge, dedication, and preparation to the craft are unmatched. Last of a dying breed man...I see glimpses from some of todays players but not to his level. Dude went up against and learned from LEGENDS. He knows he can't do what he used to and his ball IQ will help his game adapt to his body. This season is going to be much more fun than the last two for sure.

I also don't think Analytics and all that **** speak louder than banners. We will be back as contenders sooner than I thought after the whole cp3nix/dwight fiasco

Great post.

Lakers need to just Sign Robin Lopez or Monroe and call it an off season. They have ZERO CHANCE at landing a big name free agent especially after coming off two years in the Lottery. Times are Different than they were in the 90s, guys are only signing with teams that are competitive, Lakers have yet to prove that. Gotta let Clarkson, Randle and Russell turn heads for a Lil while before we land a Big time Free Agent...

Maybe it's time for the Lakers to hire someone for analytics. They need to get away from the stone age way of thinking.

Aldridge wasn't coming here unless the Lakers could add another max player to go along with him, Lakers virtually have nothing to sell him but dreams and potential lol

Lakers living in the past so much they probably riding horses across the U.S. To see free agents

I'm not proud of this joke, idk why I'm still submitting it *shrug*

It doesn't matter if we believe in Kobe, i'm sure most of us believe in the way he goes about things, i'm mean its produced, we have 5 Championships because of him. However, we are fans, the people they bringing into the room are NBA Superstars, in an age where you get more credit for teaming with other superstars and taking less, than leading your team.

Doesn't matter what we think, they got to cater to the new free agents, yes their may be a few stars left out their like Westbrook, and that is why Kobe gushes over him and so do most of us, but the majority aren't.

Whatever it takes to bring these players in, Analytics, Photoshop, 3D videos, in order to catch the attention of these players, you do it. Kobe could appreciate that, anything to win.
