League source familiar w/ Ed Davis' deal w/ Portland: "Lakers did everything they could. But things move too quickly."
What the asterisks does this even mean?!?!
ravens didn't move fast enough

DAMN YOU JIM

Maybe I'm still on a high from the draft, they handled that so well and with such covertness that I have to give them the benefit of the doubt rt now. The uncertainty is killing me but I trust Mitch.

I think when it comes to the lakers these days, its best to just close your eyes until season starts...the inactivity, and possibly ineptitude will give you an ulcer otherwise.

They did the exact same thing last offseason that they did this one!

Didn't they state they were gonna do the opposite of what they did last year?! Which is wait around for the big FA to make a decision while all other activity goes on around us.
I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt I really do, but I'm looking and there's literally no one left except our old trash.

The way things are going I think they overestimated their FA reach. The draft choice is looking more funny in the light by the passing minute.

The draft choice isn't looking funny. DLO is good money.
Our FO decision making skills is whats looking funny right about now.

Its like they are sleep at the wheel or something. They had a whole year to plan for this....the season was over when it started last year so they literally had a whole year to plan this :smh:

I'm very happy with the pick.

But I do wonder if the Lakers are less excited about it now that they're about to strike out on every big man FA.

Well they really didn't think a 19 yr old rookie PG that hasn't played a single minute in the NBA had the clout to cause free agents to want to come to LA to play.....I mean they couldn't have thought that.

I believe that our approach is outdated. I think the FO is still trying to push "Showtime" and the "glamour of Hollywood" It's not going to work anymore.

I'm fine with the pick, just not the thought process that went into it. Even in that interview the day of the draft Mitch tipped they were taking Russ in part b/c of the plethora of bigs available in FA.

There were reports that they made the pick based on confidence they'd sign a big man and how he'd fit. Not necessarily that he'd be the main draw for said big man.

I hope Russell ends up being the better player regardless but that's a stupid line of thinking.

The Suns have cleared $20M in salary cap space, allowing them to potentially sign LaMarcus Aldridge without the need for a sign-and-trade.
