Assuming Wiggins and Lavine have a lot of growth and Towns is a contributor from day 1. The only team on par with us is the sixers no?

Everyone got better, we got younger, and inexperienced. Won't say we got worse cause we added talent just need to let it grow and the rebuild take place.

3 years to Hill/Ellington? No. Screw that.

Nobody should get more than 1 unless they're 25 or younger.

Just sit. Keep Sacre, Kelly, etc and take our lumps.

Mitch, Jeanie, Kobe did this, let them ride it out.

**** your max contract Kobe. This is what you get for taking that ridiculous contract.

And hopefully Okafor can carry the offensive load in the East. :nerd:

So if Kobe didn't sign that contract we would have players flocking to play for the lakers?

I agree keeping the flexibility. No sense in tying up anyone over 25 at this point. Unless it's a real cheap contract.

I guess the thought is it would be easier to get two elite players to come at once than convincing one guy to be the first step and wait another year for help

I mean Okafor and Noel fit well. And I doubt Embiid every touches the NBA floor.
They need a guard and they're solid too.

We got 2 nice guards and no bigs

Nobody's coming to the team because it sucks!
The team could easily go over the cap if they felt they had a contender. Just look at how much money the Cavs are spending.
Bottom line the roster sucks, teams are looking at the roster and saying nah....i'll go play over here.

I wouldn't even say the roster sucks, it's just in a transition period and no one wants to wait a year or two for the rookies to get their feet wet. There's a decent core, show an improvement in record this year and next offseason you'll get a couple of good pieces via free agency.

Looking forward to next years draft class, Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram? Who else? A nice athletic PF would be nice but I don't see "it" with Simmons. Who else should I be looking out for next year?

So Kobe's contract is the chief reason were stuck in this and not the fact that we haven't been team building since 2010, have no experience on the roster to entice guys that want to win now, have continuously let mid tier guys pass in lure of trying to get the Bron/Melo/LMA/DJs of the world. Oh and the organization trying to sell everything but basketball in pitches to those guys? All that's trumped by Kobe's deal when they've all had 23 mil plus each summer top sign supplemental pieces that will make the overall team feel more attractive?

Seems legit.

It is so unfortunate that one of the most storied franchises in the NBA, cannot draw players that could turn around their current misfortune. Gone are the fun days of Wilt, West, Magic and Kareem, Shaq, all players that made people want to come and play with them, as just a phone call from any of these players convinced top tier players to take on lesser roles for the better of the team. Bob McAdoo, Karl Malone, GP, all came willingly, and now, nobody wants to even consider the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shame.

Scal at Kentucky. Seems to have less upside than Towns/Davis.

Hard to sell big name free agents that they can be the face of the franchise when kobe is in the room. That's nothing to do with what kobe says or does either, it just comes with his legend status. MJ could suit up in a bulls uniform this year and no one would care able d rose anymore

Jayden Brown or Ben Simmons?

Leave Kobe's asterisk out of the meetings then, that's their fault. They gave him his penance (no negotiation remember?) and he'll be gone next year thru supposedly have been looking past his tenure but their every move suggests otherwise.

They have next summer to start the turnaround whiff again and the blame is squarely on their shoulders.

It seems that free agents didn't have a problem coming while Shaq was there. He is a legend, and people had no issues playing with the Lakers while both he and Kobe were in the locker room while with the Lakers.
