I would probably lean towards the thought process that the Lakers aren't making this pick based on who they "can" get aka free agency. They're making this pick based on who they think will be the better player.

D'angelo Russell at the 2nd pick is not a huge mistake. I don't understand that at all. Based on everything I've seen the guy has the potential to be something really special.

If the Lakers pick Russell it's because they think he's the best prospect out of the two, not because of free agents. I'm pretty confident about that.
You haven't seen every report about Russell at # 2.

Always been attached to the names on the board for Free Agency.

Chad Ford, Ramona Shelburne & Kevin Ding. All 3 said that it was a major reason if Russell is # 2
Point me toward them if you don't mind? Is that their personal opinions/thought process? I've seen a lot of so called reports saying the front office is split on the decision and it's mostly Mitch that likes Okafor, while the others like Russell.

I don't understand how you/others are so sure Okafor is the much better prospect. Actually I see Russell as having the higher ceiling. I'm saying all this with me liking Okafor a lot and have kind of grown to want him through this process.

Why so much hate on Russell

Cause the sky is falling... yet 2 weeks ago they were cool with it if we got a big :smh:
Why so much hate on Russell

Because a lot of people are so use to the convential way of drafting a big automatically equals sucess and the Lakers history & sucess is built around big men.

Okafor is flat out the better player.

NK quote "We'll find that out in 3 years."

Both are really REALLY good.... no reason to be mad if one or the other is drafted.

Trust in Mitch bottom line

I like this post. A lot. Jus relax folks. We're gambling on anyone no matter who we pick.

It's even more of a gamble to take guard vs a big man who's offensive game is already polished. We just giving the Knicks a gift.

If we were # 3. Towns & Okafor off the board. I'd be ecstatic for Russell.

But at # 2 with Okafor still there?

Just plain old dumb.

Jeanie is on the radio now circling back to free agency a lot. Talking about how they have an opportunity to get a bright young player and a free agent to compliment them, and how we're in an era of player sharing and high movement.

I don't like this...

I'm not saying don't look for a free agent to boost this team another level. I'm just saying don't base this decision on the possibility of that happening.
