@WojYahooNBA: Free agent Aminu Al-Farouq has agreed to a four year, $30 million deal with Portland, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

Anthony Davis Agrees To Five-Year, $145M Extension With Pelicans
JUL 1, 2015 12:02 AM

Anthony Davis has agreed upon a five-year, $145 million contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Davis was a First-Team All-NBA selection in just his third season. Davis will presumably be eligible for the Derrick Rose rule that allows for him to take 30 percent of the Pelicans' cap. Davis will need to be an All-NBA selection or voted onto the All-Star team as a start in 15-16.

Davis could have waited until 2016 to become a restricted free agent and then take the qualifying offer to become an unrestricted free agent in 2017, but he instead gets complete financial security in 2015.

Davis and his agent, Thad Foucher of Wasserman Media Group, met with New Orleans general manager Dell Demps and coach Alvin Gentry for a dinner in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Wednesday night and reached an agreement after midnight ET.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports Davis has a clause after Year 4 that allows him to become a free agent in 2020.

Aminu deal isn't horrible year 3 and year 4.

But :wow: is that not an uncomfortable number.

And you know how we know Portland overpaid. He signed 15 minutes in. No meetings with anybody else.

By 3s who can play as a 2... It means guys who legitimately play a bunch of minutes at the 2.

But here it goes...

Kyle Korver
Avery Bradley
Joe Johnson
Jimmy Butler
Monta Ellis
Klay Thompson
James Harden
Dwyane Wade
Khris Middleton
Andrew Wiggins (played 39% at the 3, 33% at the 2. Five of his 6 most played lineups he was at the 2)
Eric Gordon
Victor Oladipo
Wes Matthews
Danny Green
DeMar DeRozen
Terrence Ross
Bradley Beal

and for old time's sake... Kobe

Those guys are all better than Jordan Clarkson

Don't forget Jamal Crawford, Kevin Martin and Lou Williams too
