In a vacuum, re-signing Nick Young for four years was somewhat understandable as an off the bench scorer and the cap rising except for the fact that he was approaching his 30s and the Lakers are going to stink for a couple of years. And the fact that his last year was a player option makes the contract even worse.

But like I said I somewhat understand what the Lakers were thinking.

^ knowing they were going to suck for the next few years is exactly why they signed him. He was a distraction and very well liked by casual fans in his first year. We're just going to have to wait through his contract unless he is added in a trade to match salary. 5 mil isn't too much tho, considering cap is gana skyrocket.

maybe minnesota is penny pinching and wants to save money by getting their player at #2 for less money annually?

word to the seahawks on draft day

not srs

Man, I went alllllll the way back in this thread to when it was lotto day and just looking over everyone's reactions at keeping the pick afterwards was so awesome :pimp:

Such a great feeling man, I was so nervous that entire day until it was confirmed we kept the pick  here's to much better days for the Lakers, gentlemen :smokin

I think some in here is making the gap way too wide between Okafor & Towns. It's a shame too. A lot of talk what could be and not what is.

Oh and Minnesota would never call us to trade talk #1 for our #2 + whatever else. If they did that they just gave they're hand away. We would just hold on to our #2 pick and call their bluff and pick Okafor anyway.
And if they agree to trade the #1 then they never wanted Towns in the first place so we would then be fools to trade our draft picks that we have been getting murdered for not keeping.

Why even risk it? If they'll take the picks you sign them over in .4 seconds.

If not you live with it :\ :\

And draft Russell :pimp: :pimp:

Keep Clarkson and Randle, and use everything else to try to move up to 1.

Towns > Russell> Okafor > Mudiay.

This thread has been infinitely better since May 19th thats for damn sure :smokin

Let's face it. If you REALLY want KAT...you're at their mercy, they hold all he cards..YOU must be the one initiating negotiations and they wouldn't take any less than 2/27 if not 2/27/34...If u don't wanna...then you're settling on okafor, plain n simple. Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind that at all..minny shouldn't/wouldn't show their hand...why would they. Unless......they're enamored with okafor/disappointed by KATs workouts that they succumb to the fact they're gonna take JAH and wanna coax something...ANYTHING out of LAL..
It may be a staredown until the end.

Unless of course...u BS everyone and just announce you're taking KAT and force LALs hand. Then it's 2/27/34 again either way..lol.

Cats are sleeping on Okafor. My son Jah has been on the NBA radar (and projected first overall) since he was like 15.
I would not be mad in the slightest if we took him.

A lot is made of his lack of defense compared to Towns & I'll agree with that... Towns is the better prospect, straight up.
HOWEVA, if you told me last summer the Lakers would have the chance to draft Jah, I'd be crying tears of joy.
Haven't seen a skilled post scored like Jah in forever. Just wait until he goes through NBA S&T program. Sure Okafor/Randle would suck defensively for a few years but they're not even 20 years old yet. No doubt in my mind that they will become competent defensively in 2-3 years.

If Jah and Towns went to college for 4 years, they'd be Ewing/Duncan status. It'll be a growing process for a couple of years.

My board as of today:
Towns
Russell
Okafor
Mudiay
Winslow
WCS

You in LA? If you want to meet some where I'll pick them up for you.

I was in the area a few weeks ago (I'd like to think my presence helped the Lakers get #2), but thanks. Probably just gamble and wait for them to go on sale.

They probably will. I pulled the trigger because 15's don't stay around long. HOH in Bev center didn't even have a 15 so I ordered them quick.
