Although I would prefer KAT over Okafor strictly because I hate Dukies I'm not sure the gap is as large as you guys are making it out to be.

True.

One could be Oden, one could be Durant. No gap between those two picks at all.

Not sure what that means.

Towns could be Oden...

Towns's potential is far greater than where Okafor can get to. Towns could be what Anthony Davis is, which is a menace to the league. Flat out nasty, on both ends of the court.

Okafor could be a lesser Melo, offensively nice, but defensively not worth much.

You saying there isn't much of a gap between the two of them is off, by quite a bit.

Honestly you don't know what either of them will bring to the table...

And if that's what it is why would Minnesota even make a trade with us for a 2nd round pick or Nick young

I just don't understand the logic to how that benefits Minnesota

The Lakers want Towns

Wolves want Okafor

Flip could just take him #1 easy but why do that when u can get 2 extra picks and still draft him #2

U dont see the logic in obtaining 2 free picks?

I don't see the logic in Minnesota wanting a player that's far less talented with much less potential... According to the majority of this thread

If you guys really think towns is light years ahead you don't believe Minnesota is gonna take him first?

Because Minny could believe like you that Okafor could be more than just an offensive piece. So they could get him at 2 AND free toys, like 27, or 34, or both etc.

Reality is, they absolutely should take Towns for themselves with Wiggins and have the most dynamic young pair in the NBA.

My hope, is they screw up, same as Portland did not even thinking about Durant.

The fans in LA are killing me. I know a guy who loves okafor and is saying there are people like towns everywhere in the NBA.... :smh:

I can not....

Okafor Towns is like Parker Wiggins last year.

We'll be fine either way. I prefer Towns because of his versatility. But I'd still be elated with Okafor.

To me, Okafor helps us be a playoff team sometime soon.

Towns helps us be a Title team sometime soon.

Additional parts needed for both, obviously, but the ceiling for Towns goes higher than Okafor.

Okafor at 2 is an upgrade to our roster. Towns is an UPGRADE to our roster.

If that makes sense.

Nick Young has no value. You'd have to give up a pick for someone to take him. ASTERISK how hard is it to understand that?

Just because you say he has no value doesn't make it true

Some GM might think 10-15 points off the bench for 5 million is value

That Gm would get fired.
10-15 pts on 36% shooting for 5 million. 1 rb and .5 ast. That has value?

He's a clown. Yall killed Dwight for smiling but nick young does it and it's swaggy? He's a Bum.

My point is if they want Okafor they're gonna take him regardless.

He's not gonna go with Towns solely because he couldn't land that 34th pick

This is being overlooked. If the wolves say "we're picking towns" then that's it. There are no trade talks. By calling and asking the lakers now have a read on which way they're leaning and whether there's a trade or not it helps them being more prepared going into draft day. Also now there is a market for their other picks, teams might be more active looking to get 27 and 34 if they feel there's a chance to bid against minny

people are comparing towns to rookie Duncan is that a fair comparison

No way. Duncan was 4 years in college, Towns only 1. Not fair at all in terms of rookie season.

Over time, can Towns become a great low post player like Duncan? Sure, not the same, but in the Kobe is kinda like Mike, but not as good breath, yeah, Towns could do that.

Right on cue . I'm pretty much defending the good season he had last year and hoping he can do it consistently for the good of the team since he'll be here anyway

I think some in here is making the gap way too wide between Okafor & Towns. It's a shame too. A lot of talk what could be and not what is.

Oh and Minnesota would never call us to trade talk #1 for our #2 + whatever else. If they did that they just gave they're hand away. We would just hold on to our #2 pick and call their bluff and pick Okafor anyway.
And if they agree to trade the #1 then they never wanted Towns in the first place so we would then be fools to trade our draft picks that we have been getting murdered for not keeping.

Omg im so hyped hearing we might trade up to insure towns. I love it!

Cant wait for the draft

Anybody got a list of players over the years picked at 27 and 34? Doubt they make a huge difference.

I'm not a fan of Wacky P and I want him gone, trying to rationalize why some team might take him, his deal isn't that bad if he can get back to his production 2 yrs ago

I just want more money to throw at Tobias
