Why are teams GIVING away players for 2nd round picks? like is it in the better interest of the player? or are they clearing cap space? What did the Heat do this? Napier seems talented... it's like a waste of a pick.

rios cap hit is more than bazz. Prepping for white sides contract is not the issue here because bazz still on his rook contract.

Some people are saying this trade makes way for a guy like Josh Richardson. Napier is coming off a very productive summer league, so he got him off the books when his stock was high. Lets not forget Napier was picked at #28, so it was a pretty even exchange.
On the flip side we have a roster spot for Josh Richardson who fits the mold of that 3&D guy they are always preaching about. Richardson is more valuable to the Heat because of his versatility at the 1 & 2 spot. Napier despite being a good passer and play maker is a defensive liability.
Richardson reminds me of an Eddie Jones type player. Makes his living on defense, but can get buckets. Not nearly as athletic tho, so we'll see.

THIS... if it was down to Napier and Chalmers you'd have to go with Napier. But teams are not stupid. They're gonna take Napier too. At the end of the day I wish we could have kept him tho. I think he's gonna be a solid player in the league, he just needs the right opportunity.

This is terrible news. Napier never even got a chance. God damned Spoelstra. Smh and now that he shows high potential, we get rid of him. This is about to be the Norris come situation all over again. Cuz of Rio. DAMMIT
