Why Is Reverse Parking Illegal?

I don't know if it's only in certain areas, but why would parking facing forward be illegal? I got a ticket (thankfully it wasn't much), but I'm just curious to why this would be a parking violation. After doing a google search, I guess it's known, but I never knew that you couldn't park facing forward, in a half empty parking lot.
I'm in California if that matters.
 
i think i get it. NY tried to do something where certain areas you were supposed to back into the spot or get fined. no clue if that became a law or not. i always back into spots in lots, just makes it easier to get out.
 
i believe op is talking parallel parking. op wondering why it illegal to park going against traffic.
 
Man my neighborhood just started enforcing this bullcrap! Seriously people mess up pulling in all the time. I prefer backing in

There's some metered spots in my area where you HAVE to back in. Easier than idiots taking forever backing out on a busy st.

Never in a parking lot tho that's OD

I ALWAYS back in. My 2nd car was a 2-door blazer w/ a huge tire on the back. It was a pain to back out of spots because I couldn't really see, and I'd rather get that out of the way first, so I'd always back in when parking. Still do it to this day :lol:
 
It should not even be an issue.  You should be able to park and maneuver the car either or.  If not, you need to take some lessons.   Good luck.
 
Yes in some parts of the country you can get a ticket for going in first, co-worker was just telling me how she got 1 for the same thing, I think its so they can try and prevent accidents when people back out as suppose to driving out
 
I was confusing, too early. In certain areas, I guess it's illegal to back into a parking spot. I'm just curious if anybody knew why? It doesn't seem as a safety issue. It actually seems as if it were more safe.
 
My complex got signs that say please do not back in but people do it anyway. Not me tho, I ain't taking them chances
