it seems like these one hit wonder records comin/going faster than ever .

Its like that 80s will all those corny/catchy pop songs, that people could dance to. Style over substance, if you can even call it that. The chicks want it faster and harder

Not sure exactly when it happened, but I'm one of those out of the loop dudes who just plays older stuff now. 99.9% of new music does nothing for me. I used to be up on everything and I couldn't tell you who any of these new dudes are anymore. It's all disposable.

Local hip hop station plays nothing but these whack *** songs now several times an hour. I find myself going to the oldies station instead of it if I'm not playing music from my phone

Yeah I think Vine impacts a lot of it. Cats really only **** with 6 seconds of a song to begin with and then its staying power is diminished after they hear the full version.

Nah I think everyone in here agrees the artists OP put up are trash and will be forgotten by next year. Whoever thinks otherwise is naive.

Music is way too accessible now. Back in the day you'd hear a song you liked, hope the radio said the artist/title so you'd know what it was, you'd have to wait another 3 days to hear it again, trying to explain to your friends how hard it was, hoping they knew what song it was. We found appreciation in that struggle.

Nowadays, with literally the press of a button you can identify a song/artist/title/lyrics/concert dates/album price and listen to the song 20 times that day. Musoc just gets worn out too fast.

A lot of these songs are so shallow and not about **** that they become easy to forget.  I mean how many times have we heard about clubbing, selling coke, and wasting money?  After a certain point (which we've passed) the content and the artform have to evolve.

In my opinion, we as consumers have to demand deeper content in music so we get less of these microwave tracks with absolutely no message.  I think part of why Kendrick Lamar is still being discussed is because of how multi-layered but still sonically pleasing his songs are.

Repetitive, catchy club tracks have their place but usually It's more fun trying to decipher a deep song than it is to listen to Nicki Minaj repeatedly telling me to 'blow some mo'.

But we are not supposed to "knock the next man's hustle".

He only has 1 hit currently. How is he not a 1 hit wonder ??

Did U guess It even reach the charts like that? I wouldn't consider that a hit. He got some buzz of that joint but overall, naw.
He's admitted to hating that song also, and most of his music doesn't sound like that. Don't sleep on Maco.
Dude is a real artist and constantly putting out good music with actual content. Don't judge him off U guessed it.

^It was all over the radio, and just looked it up and says it peaked at 90, which I'm surprised by since it was played so much. Assumed it was higher.

But yea, I listened to enough of OG Maco to see the content he has, especially the 3 song EP he had a couple months back.

People only remember hooks/catchphrases more than ever nowadays. Songs don't even have memorable bars anymore. Even if it's not a super lyrical rhyme, or some simple poetry, songs are garbage.

I think it's cause of the VINE/IG vids that help wear out songs so easily. Radio plays a big part too cause everytime I have to listen to the radio it's the same 10-20 song lineup on like every station and I start to hate songs that aren't even bad.
