Sorry to commandeer the topic post from you, @Nawzlew, but I felt this would be preferable to creating a new, separate topic to feature on the front page and add to our forum announcements.

Big thanks to @Nawzlew, @Zephyr1983, and @lobotomybeats  for volunteering their time and talent to develop badge designs for us.  They were all great, but we wound up selecting the three you see in the topic post as we felt they worked together the best to demonstrate a sense of progression.

Thanks to @sea manup  for the keychain offer.

Badges will begin rolling out to all contributors this evening.  Please continue to help us get the word out.  Let's clear this $3,000 goal!

Great to see this stickied! We're almost halfway there, thanks for putting this together Methodical Management Methodical Management

Very honored to be able to play a part in this, and to work with Nawzlew Nawzlew and @lobotomybeats

Donated what I could. I have a couple causes which get most of my donations that are closer to my heart but I will pray for the people of Nepal and you can't put a price on that. I hope we all can take the time to do that.

We're now only $70 shy of the halfway point.  As you can see, badges have been awarded to those who've contributed thus far.

If you donated through our group fundraising page and you have not yet received a badge, it's possible that you did not include your account name in the comments section.  As long as you gave through the group fundraising page (not the separate paypal page or any other page) and included your email address, I can still identify your contribution and award you the associated badge.  Just drop me a PM and let me know what email address you indicated when submitting your contribution.
@Methodical Management did you happen to get an update on the library?
It's going to take quite some time before we'll know.  As mentioned earlier, their offices are all closed for the week and individual project assessments will depend on road conditions and other factors.

We're hopeful that the specific library we supported remains intact, given its distance from the initial epicenter, but there's no question that a great many Room to Read libraries were impacted by the quake.  Nepal is actually considered the birthplace of Room to Read and is home to their very first library.  It will take a concerted effort from all their supporters to help rebuild and I absolutely intend for us to issue another substantial contribution to their organization this fall.

On April 25th, a devastating earthquake registering a magnitude of 7.8 struck the country of Nepal. As many as 10,000 are feared dead, and thousands more have lost their homes and businesses.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that over 8.1 million people are currently in need of aid.  More than 3 million require food assistance and greater than 14,300 face serious injuries.

The government of Nepal has projected that over 130,000 homes have been totally destroyed, and an additional 85,800 have sustained damage.  Tens of thousands of displaced people and families are currently living out of tents in relief camps.

In the past, our community has come together to raise over $10,000 for disaster relief efforts in the Philippines following Super Tyhpoon Haiyan, and over $18,000 to assist those impacted by the 2011 famine in East Africa

The time has come for us to pool our efforts and our resources to help the people of Nepal as they work to rebuild and recover from this terrible tragedy.

We've established a group fundraising page with Mercy Corps, the organization we entrusted with previous fundraisers devoted to the 2011 earthquake in Japan and Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, to accept your contributions:

In recognition of your generosity, we will be awarding special badges to all users who contribute $10 or more to our group fundraising page and leave their account name in the comments section.

Have been on NT sporadically most of the week.

Just saw this thread and donated.

Sad situation going on in Nepal.

My heart and prayers out to Nepal and those affected by such tragedy. :frown:

I've just donated, and I'll do what I can to donate more throughout this ordeal.

We've got this NT. Nepal really needs our help.
