Will Civilization Ever Have To Rebuild Again?

The sun will eventually explode and destroy the earth...
The Earth itself will still be in tact if the Sun were the explode. It's just all living things (plants included) will be wiped out.

For a star the sun is still pretty small. It's going to get larger and when that larger sun goes supernova the earth will undoubtedly go with it, assuming it hasn't already been swallowed. So either way this planet isn't surviving.

Just like every single other thing in the universe. This is a living, breathing, dynamic place :pimp:

I believe humans will inhabit this planet until it becomes impossible for us to live with the conditions. You know, as the sun gets bigger and hotter, and all that stuff. Unless aliens decides that we're no longer interesting, and decides to cancel us because we're no longer an entertaining planet.
Our planet will overpopulated well before the sun goes out. I personal believe we will colonize other planets and there will be no major catastrophe to inhibit that from happening.

This is what I believe as well.

Wish I could be alive to see it.

Civilization will always exist, the question is what type will exist. It may or may not be industrialized, depending on what catastrohic event forces it to regress to a previous state. For example, running out of fossil fuels will force us to go back to a pre-industrial civilization and increase the mortality rate (think of having to live in the early 1800s). Civilization may loose its technology but not its knowledge, none of the scientific knowledge we have learned will be lost (hopefully) as long as its written on paper and not just stored on someones hard drive.

As far as colonizing other planets, well FTL travel will have to be invented, otherwise by the time you get to Mars you will be 100 years old. Its nice in science fiction but not in real life because the tech doesn't exist.

Same here, hopefully in my afterlife(if there's such a thing) I will have the ability to continue viewing time moving forward. As far as reaching the speed of light. There's always break-throughs in science such as something we have now called the Ion drive which is way faster in space compared to ordinary combustible rocket. Science will continue to advance as long as a stable society stays stable and progressive and eventually I think we will find a way to come close to the speed of light with anti-gravity(anti-dark matter) or through wormholes or something we'll find a work-around. Just matter of staying consistently progressive in Science.

Good question, it depends in the way we humans get annihilated en masse.

If we do retain some sort of small population, we most likely will rebuild. Maybe not in the same way civilization exists now in the manner of organized countries and states or with the same kind of technology. The history of mankind will ultimately be written by the largest group or culture that survives this apocalyptic era.

Random Hypothesis: People from Ohio have a 98% chance of surviving the apocalypse due to our previous experience with taking L's

Nah it'll be a hybrid ethnicity like what Hispanic people became over the years.
