The Washington Post suggests that the rural Northeast and South are the most racist regions of America. The study, based on Goggle searches for race-related phrases, shows racist people in the U.S. appear to be clustered along the Appalachian Mountains from Georgia, through New York and all the way up to Vermont.

My state is definitely racist. People aren't open about it, but you can kinda tell people automatically go >D as soon as they see a minority.
WA state, by the way.

I agree with UrBetterThanMe. The data collected does not accurately represent who is racist at all.
There is racism everywhere, just like there is ignorance. It goes hand-in-hand.

Racism isn't just a problem in The States either, there is a huge campaign by footballers (soccer players) world wide trying to put a stop to racism.

IMO racism is all learned behavior from parenting. If parents would teach love rather than hate, society would be much better off.

It seems like the WEST is more open because of the other minorities and groups (i.e. Asia).  The East, and certain parts of the South still carry the whole "Confederate" mindset.  Because of this, demographics naturally attract certain group types.

If you were to move to the US, or any FOREIGN territory, wouldn't you move and assimilate yourself with other people that share a similar culture?  It makes sense, but many people do not understand this and are quick to label such thinking as 'prejudice' and 'bias'.  In some ways, it has manifested itself.  It's kind of like wearing the JERSEY of an OPPOSING team in the wrong crowd.

Not too many run-ins with racism around my way(Bay Area). But, it's more of a classist sort of prejudice over here in the city.

The government in arizona may not like minorities, specifically hispanics. they may just assume they're all illegal. But I didn' see any race probs when I was there. I got hellllla love. I didnt see many of black folks though. a few at the mall. but it was mostly just white and hispanic. So maybe it was like animals in the wild that have never come into contact with people or hunters. They dont have common bad experiences with black people so they dont have preconceived notions or hatred for them. white seem way more racist and judgmental in michigan, probably based on what they read in the papers or see on the news. Everybody in AZ, at least where I was, Scottsdale, PHX, Tempe, Sedona area. Everybody seems to vibe together, except the native americans. They pretty much keep to themselves. Totally understandable. Last time they trusted, look what happened.

People are LIT UP when they 'expect' every aspect of society to be 'fair',  and 'equal'.  These people are just naive.  Hate to say it, the US is white man society, but it's just better and if not, seen as the best in context to others.  On a tier below it though, I think the US embraces more diversity than any other country out there.  This stems from our 'roots' and 'history'.  What's sad is when people don't understand this and continue to silo themselves.

The US ain't perfect as it continues to grow, but for the most part, people here value the quality of like unlike any other place in the world.

When I first read that article by the post I took it with a grain of salt.

The way I see it, urban metropolitan areas or cities are where youll find more progressive populations. Racism is everywhere. Even in the biggest city in the country, the melting pot that it is, you'll find racism, institutional or otherwise. However go to a suburban area that is typically less diverse if at all, and you'll see that racism may thrive a bit more there.

So Texas is a conservative state but you can find the highest concentration of progressive populations in cities like Austin or Dallas. An example.

Yes North Carolina is racist as hell. I probably wouldn't know how to act if I lived in a liberal state

It would feel foreign

What kinda trash report is this from the Washington Post :smh:

I hate ignorant trash like this. The washington post is stirring the pot the way a coward would, throwing loaded articles out there like this and then claiming its a Google report and they are just reporting what the data shows. NO. People will misinterpret this information, and they know that.

On a topic about Racism, why even bring into account any sort of compare and contrast, juxtaposing viewpoint at all (a la my state is better than your state, my true colors are brighter than your true colors, we are different but I am better :smh: )

I do not feel any more proud to be from CA after this article, and I wasn't any less angered when the story of Freddie Gray first broke just because it didn't happen in my state.
