Americans got it all wrong with life, Europeans got it right with life

Its the truth. Heard someone refer to the US as the matrix & when you sit back and think about it thats truly what it is.

Where are they traveling? Europe as a whole is much more concentrated. You can feel you are learning new things, gaining culture etc. by traveling just 200 miles to a different country.

I will agree, they seem much more laid back with their afternoon closures/breaks.

You can't just group an entire continent together. Not every European country has a working culture that's the same or even similar.

I admit though I'll take that Southern European/Mediterranean work to life ratio ANY day.

and yes of course America is *** backwards in too many ways.

Americans: Work all the time no vacation/traveling.  Spend all their money to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

Europeans: Constantly traveling to see new places, meet new people, learn new things.

Clearly, you have never met any Europeans.

I live in SF, theres so many europeans I've met from all over europe here.  They live here for a couple years then move on to S. America, Canada, SE asia, Australia/New Zealand etc.

Always found it funny we're constantly trying to imitate a dying dysfunctional continent that we've been keeping solvent for the past century. Our military presence in Germany frees up enough capital for them to be able to keep the rest of Europe afloat.

Strong post to SN ratio

hahahaha A+

I wouldnt say one is right or wrong, its just different. When I was in Europe I was continually irked by the perceived laziness of most Europeans. Nothing was efficient. Maybe it was just my American mindset of having things done quickly and efficiently that made it so bothersome. I guess if youre just waltzing through life at a slow place, it doesnt matter if it takes 20 minutes for them to get you a cup of coffee. For better or worse, having been born and raised in America, I'm just not wired that way. Another thing that irked me was the lack of order and common decency in a lot of places. In America, most people agree with and abide by the concept of queuing up for something. first come first serve. people wait in an orderly fashion (obviously there are events like black friday and jordan releases where things get sideways). In europe theres a lot of, I dont give an S, I'm just gonna do mine and get mine when i want and where i want. This mentality is also rampant all through Asia. Its like the rest of the world are a buncha savages. get in line and be polite yo.

As far as traveling and seeing new places, you have to realize that Europe IS NOT THAT BIG. Its give or take 1/3rd the size of the US. Even if you dont include Alaska/Hawaii, its roughly 50% (or less) of the lower 48. With cheap airfare and interconnected rail system its very easy to travel around Europe fairly quickly. There arent great expanses of nothingness separating countries or major cities like there is in the US. Take the distance from say... Boston to NYC (save the jokes) which are not that culturally difference. Its roughly the same distance from Zagreb, Croatia to Venice, Italy which are a world of difference in culture, people, cuisine, history, etc... etc...

bottomline is, its cheap and easy to see new places and meet new people when you have dozens of different countries, peoples, and things jampacked into a smaller space.
