Always found it funny we're constantly trying to imitate a dying dysfunctional continent that we've been keeping solvent for the past century. Our military presence in Germany frees up enough capital for them to be able to keep the rest of Europe afloat.
You must be current or ex military.

Nope. All you have to do is look around the whole continent and all of the tourist objects are at least 500 years old or more. almost everything is dead except some of the manufacturing.

Same thing in japan no?
Yes. going on 30 years of stagnation and an aging population unable to support itself.

Word. I was originally going the college route but realized I loved working with my hands and building things. No better feeling then working on an area in a building and seeing the lights come on for the first time :pimp: This week my journeyman and I are going to start piping (no ayo) an IDF room. :pimp:

Do you have a Twitter or something? I'd love to follow you.

As for the topic, yes Americans do live to work often times. I do however think that if you know how to balance work and life, we do have the best standard of living. I've got my career down for the next 40 years and I do believe I will love it then as much as I do now. So I don't mind working 50-52 weeks a year with 40 hour work weeks. If I can get 5 or more 70 hour work weeks it'd be best for me. Granted my opinion will change if I ever have a family.

The older folks tell us young people to take time off and travel. Hell, my foreman asked one guy why it is that he only works 4 days a week and the journeyman answered with "Because I can't live off of 3."

It aint about Americans and Europeans. Its about accepting what you are given versus going for what you want.

Like the way you worded that

Lots of folks here work themselves into the ground for 30 yr but don't have much to show for it, chasing a dream that has questionable attainability, all the while being distracted by smaller things that don't mean much in the end.

I do work a lot and prob don't take as much time off as I should, but personally Im much more motivated by competition than money, I think this is common for a lot Americans? And maybe European cultures aren't as competitive so their workforce is more inclined to vacation?

Dis true though. But everyone **** rides Europe. The grass is always greener, so you'd like to think. If you are a young single attractive man I think you are wasting your time in sf. My life revolves around chicks so I so-cal over sf all day. Not saying Sf has no chicks but in comparison to other places it kinda sucks. Seeing disgruntled chicks on the street is not the business. HELLLAAA dudes too, gotta search like where's waldo and **** for some good snatch.

Op generalizations too broad.

There are Americans who travel alot and live well just like there are europeans struggling

Cats always hit me with, well if you like that stereotypical looking plastic chick...well yea sucka. I'm not with the granola/vanilla midwest bohemian bootleg *****...biased opinion from a man tired of the bay area. So take it with a grain of salt...

@ those minimum wages in the U.S. And just to rub it in, the people who are on minimum wage are **** on and made fun of by the society.

I've met europeans british, norweigian, bulgarian, it goes on some that lived here in SF for 4 years some for a few months but they've all traveled way more than just Europe so the whole geographical argument goes out the window.  Some of them after the US went on to S. America, then Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand.  They travel the world while young.  While most of the americans I know are just working, talking about they'll travel later in life when we know that realistically that won't happen and who is going to want to travel while in your 50s or 60s anyways, the quality won't be the same.  It's just what it is

I'm good on Europe I've heard how wild they are with the racism over there. Give me the Caribbean islands.

Real talk, my goal is to finish up my degree and get a job overseas....anywhere. I dont care.

Im through with the US.

This **** played out.

I can only speak on France, but cats out there take leisure time seriously. Food, drink ,culture, art and history come before work. You'll never see those cats being worked to death like out here in America. Hour and a half lunches and shops closing up at 8pm.

It's expensive but really no more expensive than where I live now (SF)

Don't get it twisted though, unemployment is high and the economy is struggling over there. If I could find a job over there though, I probably wouldn't come back.

Oh, and the sidewalk café is the European living room, damn I miss that
I've spent some good time in France from St. Etienne to Lyon to Paris and smaller towns and more in the south like Marseille and it's definitely true.  Although if you go by numbers Americans have a higher gdp per capita the French enjoy much better quality of life.  Americans live horrible lives

???…i live out here been to Germany, England, Scotland, Hungary, Sweden, Turkey(Europe Side) Greece and flourished..No issues with anybody getting outta line on the race thing, some places you just don't see black people so when they see us they stare or take pictures, some think were the coolest thing they've ever seen esp the womenz
