Georgia School Founder Ruins Graduation for Everyone..... racist or ignorant??

Feel bad for the kid... he should feel more disrespected than the black folks in the crowd. Principal effed over him and the crowd.

its a ton a ways she could have handled this situation better but I honestly cant think of any off top.

there is an element to this that somewhat has me trying to understand how it could not be racist.... like i feel like I can hear something similar in a different setting and not think its racist.

naw...100% racist...

no human being should be distinguished by his skin color, and that is all it is...

why didn't she say "look at all the PEOPLE leaving"...

in the same breathe, she would NOT have said "look at all the WHITE people leaving..."

if you want to be ignorant and stupid to reality, so be it....anyone to come in here and even TRY to play devil's advocate is a closet racist to me...

We saw this during the Donald Sterling saga on NT also.

There's always a boatload of people (black and white) ready to jump in just to say something wasn't racist...despite the evidence.

Race threads bring out more devil's advocates (no pun intended) than any other type of thread.

If you consider the fact that this lady has been under the microscope before for supposed racism/prejudice activity....anyone coming in here defending her looks even dumber.

race thread in 5.4.3...

but serious, the principal was outta line

Only people the kid should feel disrespected by are the ones who cut out his speech in the first place. People in the audience are not obligated to sit through his speech after a long ceremony in what seems to be a hot room.

And why should he feel more disrespected than the families who went there to support their kids, only to get insulted by the school principal?

I assume you watched the video huh?

i did, and she was racist for what she said
i dont understand what you are trying to get at
So you admit to watching the video in the OP, then proceed to write a "race thread " countdown 2 pages later? lol point is the thread is clearly aout race to begin with.

i know, that's why i said it was a race thread. it's not about ignorance, the principal was racist. OP asked if it was race/ignorance. have it set as one pg btw

"We live in a post-racial society"

"Why does everything have to be about race?"

"I don't see color"

Think I covered everything.
"We have a Black President"
"You guys make a big deal out of everything" - Missed one.

At the end of the day, if the only thing the teacher had to point out about the people leaving was the hue of their skin, then there is some underlying tension to say the very least.

She did not say they're leaving cause they're black
1. My guess would be that more than just Black people were leaving. Maybe a majority was Black...

2. But more importantly, in this alleged "post-racial" society, it is concerning that school officials (you know those who have the ability punish, suspend, and expel students) immediately anchor to race, and use that as a categorization for their student body. If she can classify her students by the color of their skin so easily, its not a far stretch to think that she may have differentiating regulation based on those same color lines.

I agree. She made a generalization and with the position she holds in the school she should definitely consider resigning. But to label her a racist?? Idk I just feel as if the word coincides with hate and disgusts and I just think it's unfair to label her that off a 120s clip of her saying 'all the black people'. I get it though it happened in Georgia, we supposedly live in the post-racist society, yeah yeah yeah all that.. What she said was as racist as me walking into to my favorite bar on Saturday night an sayin 'hmm all the white people showed up tonight'. It's a generalized statement, not the nicest way to put it an a bit ignorant but we all tend to generalize. Not all of us hold position in society that are held to higher standards then most so we all can't sit there an act as if we're all policitally correct 24hr a day 7 days a week.

Maybe it's cause I was born in the 90s in sunny south fla where you don't see racism, pretty much at all, that I'm viewing this hoopla as media agenda to keep racism alive. To me this is a failed reach. I mean think about, for those of you who take this dearly, really think about a time you personally seen or heard something racist.. I'm willing to bet that this doesn't even compare
.

She's clearly a racist, and if its true that she blamed the devil for her actions, she's also an imbecile. And I dont think its unfair to label a person of her position as a racist, she should have know better, and as far as I'm concerned that incident probably revealed her true feelings about black people. And the comparison you made about "all the white people showed up" is not even close to what she said. Her comment implied that black people have no patience or do not care to listen to the little innocent white boy's speech.

And to say that you dont see racism in South florida confirms how naive you are.

bruhhh...racism is racism. and your analogy doesn't compare. she's equating what she views as a negative behavior (leaving early) and attributing that to one race. now if you said "hmmm...looks like all the white people are skippin out on their tab", then you might have a leg to stand on.

And the issue here isn't that she necessarily "attacked" the Black race like many overt racist gestures do, but rather that she tipped her hand...she showed that someone who should be impartial, clearly bases decisions/statements on racism.

lol Im still dying at "Sunny south florida where you dont see racism" isnt Miami in South Florida?

I hear you... I AM actually NOT trying to play devils advocate but maybe you were saying in general.

Closet racists go through all kinda hoops trying to defend actions... I wont be surprised if it appears here but what angle is there for them to go after?

my only thing is trying to see if i could NOT interpret something similar as racist... not really this event itself but i dunno... the phrase she uttered just seems so wide reaching....not sure if thats the best word

Its all the principals fought from the jump tho... i thought she left the kid off the program. Then how she acted to the crowd caused another level of commotion.

So the kid should feel disrespected by the principal all the way around. It was ppl that was waiting for him to finish and it was ppl that was leaving... if he is salty for ppl walking out, i aint mad at him.

Far as the families go... i mean they did what any of us would do, got up and left. They dont have to own the generalization that the principal threw out. On the outside looking in i am assuming the moment is more special for the kid than them, the folks that were really upset.

Someone said there's no racism in sunny South Florida???

I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, also lived in Atlanta and worked in Norcross, GA for a couple months. People in both states are as racist as can be. They know what type of people to demean and undermine.

It's not blatant to some, because they are oblivious and allow it because they are horrible at discerning. If you're in Broward County or Boca Raton, go to places like Davie, Parkland, Wellington, etc. and watch how you get profiled.

She already rubbed the audience the wrong way when she was talking about the guy calling him a goober and a coward and then started calling the audience rude. And then to say look who's leaving all the black people sent them over the edge. It was wrong for her to single out a whole race of people. She's been having those thoughts for a while
