What kind of collector are you?

For those of you that collect sneakers, what kind of collector are you? Are you only into certain Nike lines like Jordans, SBs, Lebrons/KDs, etc.? Do you like to cop sneakers as showcase pieces or do you only cop what you rock?

Personally, I'd describe myself as a "quantity over quality" type collector. And I don't mean quality as in material quality. For example, if I were given the choice of buying a pair of DS Royal 1s for $450 or a dozen pairs of kicks I like from a Nike outlet, I'll almost always go with the "quantity" option.

So how would you describe yourself as a collector/sneakerhead?

- I only buy shoes that will be getting a ton of wear, i take care of my shoes and dont double up.
- I wear mainly Nikes/Jordan shoes, but not exclusively. I also enjoy adidas, new balance, asics, brooks, clarks etc
- I prefer OG colorways and timeless silhouettes (aj1-aj6, aj-11-13, imo) but i do enjoy non-og cw's that are tastefully done i.e. frags, toros, gammas
- Quality over quantity (use to be other way around when i was younger, i slowly downsized my collection, sold/gave pairs away to friends & fam and gotten smarter with my purchases, ended up only keeping my grails that really mattered after reliazing i dont have time to wear most of my kicks)

I personally like all brands but mostly collect Jordan's and nike. I'd like to get more runners like asics and new balance. I like all the og colorway Jordan's but not many of the new retro colorways. Shoes like Crimson 3s and sport blue 3s I can't stand.

I used to be quantity over quality, but in the past 5 years, I've cut the collection almost in half. Mostly Jordans and some Kobes and Iversons. I wear my shoes, even tho I still haven't worn my Concords or jersey retirement Questions yet.

Peace.

No brand loyalty for me, although if u looked in my closet its 98% nike/JB

Id describe myself as quantity over quality like u said OP. Id take the outlet route over 1 pair for $450.

Foams, Jordans, KDs, Lebrons, and Air Maxes for me.

I may actually have some Reeboks in my collection if the red and/or blue toe Questions really rerelease as a GR.

I was all about Jordan Retros when I first started out, but I'm getting more into contemporary shoes like Kyries that I've bought three colorways of in the last week

Modern styles just make more sense in terms of durability, comfort and quality. I like my Black/Infrared 6s, but it doesn't change the fact that my Kyries and ZX Fluxes are way more comfortable. Plus the creasing is very minimal and cleaning is much easier when I actually do take the time to clean my kicks. Plus you're just getting a better value.

I tend to lean more toward Nike/JB. You just can't argue with some of the stuff they put out. Would like to get into adidas but they just don't put out much that convinces me I NEED to grab that.

I tell myself every year at the end of the year this will be my last year collecting.....

Fast forward to 2015: Oh, they dropping Georgetown XIs? Stealth XXs? Gone Fishing Foams? Hare VIIs? I'll just retire next year.

I realized I had a problem after I bought the Infrared Kyries on Saturday and instantly felt like a POS afterwards because I JUST got my ASGs in on Wednesday, had IDs coming today, and the Hares coming the following weekend.

I literally sat in my car and contemplated what the hell I was doing.

I grew up playing basketball and running, so those are usually the kind of shoes I buy. In high school I switched to Adidas and Asics for running, and today I buy runners from NB, Asics, Saucony and occasionally Adidas in addition to Air Maxes, Huaraches, Flyknits, and Roshes. Have a soft spot for Bo's as well. Otherwise I mainly buy Jordans, and the occasional Nike release. I have never and likely will never purchase a LeBron or Kobe shoe. I've got some great KD releases though (Galaxy KDIV's!) so I can't say that I only buy Jordans when it comes to basketball shoes.

I've always been drawn to classic 80's shoes. Worn mostly Nike since I started spending my own cash. Went through a Supra/Vans phase A few years ago. Started off solely buying AF1's in HS, mostly mids the occasional high and various exclusives. Then made the transition to Dunks, couple SB's, ID's and misc exclusives. Now I'm in AJ1 territory.

Downsized my collection considerably so I could double up on the OG 1 colorways. My closet currently consists of AJ1's, a few pairs of random 90's Nike basketball retros, Air Pythons and Roshes. I've always worn my shoes into the ground and still do except for the doubles that I plan to hold onto.

I think I'm pretty much done with buying sneakers for the most part especially with the hype and price gouging. I've also had most of the pairs that I've really wanted over the years at some point, save for a few that are impossible to attain in my size or good condition. Considering selling/donating wearable stuff and buying a few pairs of Saint Laurents before I call it a day. I think I've definitely lost some interest recently. :frown:

 I don't even try anymore :smh:
Instead I just limit my self to ~ 3 pairs a year

The type of collector who is:

- Into 1s, 11s, and other OG color ways

- Increasingly purchasing fewer and fewer pairs of sneakers as the years go by

- Struggling to rationalize purchasing a pair of (garbage quality) shoes for roughly $200, when I know I can spend another $100-$150 and own some REAL QUALITY shoes that will NEVER go out of style

- More than happy pre-ordering a pair to avoid the lowlifes and nonsense that "lining up / camping out" bring with it

i used to be a jordan 11 12 and 13 collector but have since fallen in love with the jordan 1 and have those plus some 90s Nike shoes that i remember not being able to get when i was a kid, still waiting for some nikes to release but for the most part my jordan collection is done

My collection is small, but by and large I like mostly all Jordans.

If I had to name my favorites besides the 11, I would say 4, 10, 13, 6,7 and 12 basically in that order.

I have narrowed Jordans down to 1s 4s and 11s.  And they have to be something that is killer to me not stuff like Lazers, etc.  OGs preferable.

The last year I have been into runners more (Asics, NB, and Diadoras with me Nikes thrown in).  They are more wearable for me on a daily basis than a clunky BB shoe.  That is the path I will probably stay on except for a few of the above mentioned Jordans.

Only collect Jordan's.. that's it. Dude was my idol growing up, loved the game of bball because of him. That's all I wear.

80% of time I'm in dress shoes for work, so the kicks don't get as much wear as I'd like.. But feels good to randomly pull out a pair from several years ago that are still in pretty good shape.

-I collect certain Jordan retroes and PE's
-I'm quality over quantity.
-Most of the time I keep shoes DS
-If I want to wear, I double/triple up.
-I also buy some LeBron's and AF1's.

I'm quantity over quality type of collector too. I rock all my shoe's except 11's (mid or low). I love buying in outlets and I love 90's shoe's OG CW. And I'm crazy with Lil Penny posite hugs my feet so good.

Majority of my collection is comprised of Jordan's, but going beyond that the majority is Nike. Outside of Jordans I have Kobes, Lebrons, Roshes, Free Runs, two pairs of Shoxs, and one pair of Flyknits. I'm open to buying from any brand however, as its all about whatever I personally like. Lately i've started to get into Saucony's for example, with two pairs down and i'm on the hunt for more. Once I buy one show from a certain line you could say that that line itself is then open to me, as it'll stay on my radar and i'll check it out fairly often for what new kicks it'll be releasing. I feel like i'm still in the early days of my collecting, but at the same time there are days where I feel as if I have enough and I could stop. Then of course I see a picture on instagram of a new retro or model coming out that I think is clean and I have to get it. However i've definitely slowed down since I first started. I used to think that if I liked a show I HAD to have it, whereas now if I get it I get it, and if I miss out its whatever. I'll either cop down the line or just decide I can do without it.

95% of my collection is Nike.
I used to have about 70+ pairs of Jordans but they just don't do it for me anymore.
Now I'm learning to just buy what I like.

I'm into mostly Jordan's but I started collecting foams, Lebrons, Kobes and might start adding KD's, air maxes, sb's, and force 1's to the collection as well.

I like buy what i like of course but i have ocd when it comes to the freshness of a sneaker so i tend to get rid of shoes ,or not wear them as often, once they show signs of too much wear. Once a clear sole turns piss i cant rock em id rather give them away for sell them for a reasonable price idk thats jus me. Most of my sneakers i have are shoes from when i was growing up and was too young to cop, its all nostalgia to me. Retros of nike jordan addidas reebok etc.Lately i have been wanting to turn my passion, and ocd lol, into profit so i recently started cleaning and doing restoration projects for people and hopefully one day i can at least quit my second job. I live eat breathe sneakers tho i dont have to have every release or every "11" to enjoy them. Sometimes i get enough satisfaction by simply watchin sneaker reviews....#confessions of a sneakerhead
