Amtrak Train derails in Philly at least 50 hurt

So train was going 100 mph around that crave which had a reduced speed of 50 mph

Engineer is gonna be in some heat and he's not cooperating apparently

Got me thinking of the flight that went down in Europe a few months back due to the pilot's deathwish....

Theres a minimum of 2 people in the cab.

Engineer and conductor.

9/10 they were both asleep.

We work dumb hours with lil time off.

One of the reasons im perusing going back to school this fall.

are hours regulated like pilots?

have to feed that war machine... smh

Absolutely

War is big business.

The military industrial system is the life blood of this nation along with the prison industrial system.

It's sad but without war & crime this nation's economy would be in shambles.

Those industries pretty much pay for politician's campaigns.

Terrible....

It used to be they could call you in 6 hours after you clock out but then they gave us an extra 2 hrs a few years ago.

Max of 12 hours working but you can literally be stuck on a train for hours.

I did an 18 shift on a tiny yard pusher.

But i work 70+ hrs a week on the reg.

Don't yall make good money?

Good compared to what?

Damn near work every holiday, birthday special occasion.

Id rather do 40 and make 50-60 then slave for 80.

We're union so employee, management relations are a nightmare.

Plus its a lightweight racist industry.

It's cool but I want to enjoy going to work.

I don't really enjoy this anymore.

obama n the us needs to invest in infrastructure

He has said this countless times, congress is the one who needs to act. Unfortunately they won't.

It should come as no surprise then that the house, coincidentally, just cut $254 million from Amtrak's budget.

Odds are that this accident was caused by human error of the worst kind. Even so, the decreasing to lack of funding for America's infrastructures is down right shameful, especially when compared to other 1st world countries.

So apparently the engineer tried to pull the emergency break. Maybe there was a malfunction? Doesn't explain him not talking to the authorities, but it does make me wonder...

This could have been disastrous for me. My parents were on the Amtrak on the way home from NYC the same day. Had they been going up they might have been on the train. RIP.

Union lawyers might have something to do with that, but I dont know.

There's an emergency break on the conductor side too tho.

I don't understand how he got up to that speed tho if he was in a 50mph limit.

Imma wait and refrain from judging this engineer. I remember a guy operating a tractor near my internship. The dude drove completely through a wall and hurt some patients/workers. It turned out buddy suffered a seizure just before the crash, jerk like motion caused him to push that gas pedal even more. Buddy still doesn't quite remember what happend. I don't think he has a history of seizures. (More than likely this probably didn't happen in this Amtrak accident, I'm just talking)

yeah it usually best to reserve judgement until all facts are available.
