IE isn't the official name, but there was so much mystery surrounding the name that the "unofficial" name actually works better than whatever the official name is at this point.
Just like another poster said, calling these the XI low.....but then we have the actual patent XI low now that was non-existent in 96.
So "IE" works best to distinguish between the two albeit wrong.
On another note, if these release in the OG form with the translucent 'gumish' bottom then I'm all in. I hated the versions with the smoked out soles. Completely changed the shoe for me.
I actually like the blk/red color of these in OG form more than any other XI low released including the ones with patent leather.

These are sleepers imo, theyre perfect for summer due to the breathable netting.

The dudes I messed around w/ called them the Ron Harpers (he wore them more than anyone that year in the Playoffs.)
This is truly the only XI Low I get down with; I adore this shoe (blk/red)

The most reasonable answer to me was always "International Exclusive." Some other answers were Imprinted Elephant, "id est"(Latin) , and the worst one, Internet Exclusive (Not relevant back in 96-97).
