AirBNB Questions & Tips

Did airbnb while I was in Paris...no problems whatsoever just make sure you know who you're renting from. The fridge didn't have much except for condiments etc. I did hang all my **** up with the hangers and used the toiletries they provided.

Airbnb is incredible. Couldn't really imagine staying in a hotel ever again unless it was a resort type deal or something. Nothing to do with money either.

What if they left those things for op ?

Are they full bottles of wine and liquor?

Yeah bruh, it's tons of wine bottles chilling in the fridge, some chilling on the floor, nice little bar setup. I would ask her, but she sucks with responding so I'll leave it alone.

AirBnb is great.

I stayed at a spot out in Brooklyn about a month ago. It is kinda weird at first, staying in a strangers house and all. But for the price beats most hotels so I couldn't complain. It was a good experience for me though.

But to answer your question, if the host didn't say anything in her notes about the food/liquor, it's fair game bro.

Think im going to try AirBnb out this summer in NYC. Want to stay for 3 days.. and hotel rates are crazy

Did it a month ago in Miami for a wedding. Really nice older couple, didn't speak any English, but willing to try. The host gave me and my girl a tour of the house, but I didn't understand a word. Clean room, and a shared bathroom. I really didn't mind, because the bathroom was connected between two rooms and you could lock the opposing room if it was occupied.

So after getting settled in, I decide I can finally drop the kids off at the pool. I literally was holding it the entire 4 1/2 hour car ride, so I was relieved to see how the clean the bathroom was. Did my thing, and really didn't think about how much paper I used to wipe. Long story short, I clogged Papi's toilet within 30 minutes of arrival. With no plunger in sight, I'm googling translations for "clogged toilet" in Spanish...apparently this is a popular Google search because as soon as I typed "plun..." the search results came back with "..ger translation in Spanish." So I approach Papi to show him my masterpiece. And he plays it off, but his wife didn't seem to happy.

Needless to say, it was the great start to a rather awkward trip.

Later that night, me and my girl go our separate ways with the respective wedding parties. I'm at the bachelor party with the homies, she's at the bridal shower and bachelorette party. I decide I'm way too drunk to function, and I uber back to Papi's crib. While Papi was giving me a tour of the house, earlier that day, he gave me a pair of keys and was attempting to explain what the keys were. Well, let's just say I assumed they both were for the front door. Anyways, I get home before my girl, I stumble upstairs and past out into a drunken stupor....only to wake up hours later to 5 missed calls. The key I gave her was the key to the room door. I ran outside to let her in as soon as I realized what happened, she was asleep in the car :smh:. As soon as I return inside Papi and his wife in the kitchen looking at me, once again, like an incompetent idiot.

So all in all, it was a good trip.

Did one for Denver about a month ago...there was so much booze in there we contacted the gentlemen that we were renting the condo from and he said it was a honesty policy...meaning if we drank some just replace it with new alcohol...but we weren't too interested in the alcohol in Denver though :smokin :smokin...he could care less about the smoke too...

Airbnb is the best, it is a way better option than a hotel. You get the whole apartment or house for cheaper than you get a hotel room.

But you have to rent stuff with reviews because some people have had horror stories with places that had no reviews that had used fake pics and etc. Airbnb now does verified pictures and etc but still get the places with the most/best reviews.

I've stayed in airbnb 4 times now in Miami and LA I have had no issues. The hosts I've had were very friendly and would go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and would give you places to go eat/ see/ visit etc. And if any issues had occurred they were there within minutes to try and do their best to help accommodate you.

one of the tenants upstairs just got booted for doing airbnb. landlord found out and gave her the eviction. it's one thing to own a home but if you are renting an apt out, i advise you not to sub lease it since you dont actually own it.

think they probably do some background check when you sign up, so it should be relatively safe.

The whole airbnb thing just seems really uncomfortable/bizarre to me. Don't think I'd ever be able to do it. Though some of my friends have used it and had nothing bad to say.

That's the same thing ppl said about UBER

It's a new day and age baby pa. It's a user based society now. Cats is sharing. Next up is the new style.

I just read something bad about an uber driver trying to molest a woman who fell asleep in the car.

what does one must do to be a qualified Uber driver?

Stay away from airBnB.

You might come back to a damaged home. You might not be able to get the person(s) out of your home.

dont do it.

My aunt and uncle live in Sag Harbor, NY and rent their house for $1000 a night. $1200 during busy weeks and weekends. The service really seems to be helping a lot of people make extra cash

Plus there are legal protections written into contract people have to sign.

I mean it depends what you want to use it for and the area.

I think it's great for international travel, and it's just another outlet to other sites that have been doing largely the same thing on that scale.

When we went to Italy and Switzerland in '13 for three weeks most everywhere we stayed was through Air BnB and while some places were a little less desirable, it was still priced fairly. The flat we got in Florence was amazing too.

In the US it's a bit harder. Unless you're going to places where the home/apt is like a 2nd home or vacation spot of someone else, I wouldn't necessarily want to do it.

In law units are also common where you're not in the main house and the owners may or may not be around.

Used AirBnB in Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona.

All good times. Host in all cities let us know that anything and everything in the apartment was fair game, including liquor and snacks.

I enjoyed it so much that when I travel overseas now I tend to lean toward AirBnB over hotels. It makes for a much better experience imo, living with the locals, cheaper, etc.
